Ways to go fast?
Okay...so I have been thinking of ways to increase HP and increase acceleration such as roll-on and quarter-mile times. Lets get a thread together for all the different things that can be done. I am looking to make my bike faster which is why I wanted to start this thread (also put HP/$ ratio if you can)
1. air filter alone ($40/HP)
2. exhaust alone ($100-150/HP)
3. PC3 alone ($75/HP)
4. dyno tuning alone ($75/HP)
5. dropping weight (expensive)
6. lowering ride height for improved quarter-mile times ($75 for links and straps)
7. NOS ($15/HP ? maybe off some)
8. turbo ($20/HP or so)
9. intake stack tubes or something like that (someone can elaborate)
10. Lets get everyones stuff here so those of us that are looking to do the next thing to our 10r's can get going...ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you guys can think ofl ets put...whether it is an actual engine or HP mod, or something that can just plain increase your chances of going faster at the quarter-mile or roll-ons especially.

Do some cheap shit first like getting you bike to roll free. Ceramic wheel bearings 400 bucks. I've noticed a lot of drag from my wheel bearing seals on my 12. So I'm thinking about machining them down a few .000 to the point of just barely touching. Also make sure your breaks aren't dragging a lot. If so fix it. And the ALL important chain needs to be clean and lubed with WD40 or something simular. All of these are cheap or free and really make a difference.

I was told by a Kawi mechanic not to use the ceramic bearings because of the opening in the hub that can allow water and debris to contaminate the bearings.

The most effective modification to go fast, is the hardest, yet cheapest one you can do.
LEARN to ride the bike better. Anyone can get on the biggest and baddest bull at the rodeo, but that doesn't mean you can ride it.

1. Lose weight. Hard to do, easy to say.
2. Take a riding school. Matt's right. I'm going back to school next month and in December.

Gotta go with MAtt on this one - although taking real race lessons can be a bit pricey - its money well spent!!!
