I ran the 190/50 Dunlop 218's, then the 190/55 Supercorsas (which required some tweaking of the suspension, namely rear ride heigth), 190/50 Pilot Powers, 180/55 Pilot Powers, and 190/50 Pilot Races. All the tires I ran were with the setup that I did for the 190/55 SC's.

the 190/55 SC's gave the best on track performance and traction. I liked the Pirelli's better than the Pilot Races as I felt the communicated to me better, and were more predictable. All tires I have run since were on this set up. The 190/50 Pilot races felt sluggish on turn in, but were very stable leaned over, until they went away. When they did, there was no warning, just like H2's when they were done, it was all at once. The Pilot Power in 190/50 were a very good tire on the track and street. they gave the best mileage and traction of any street tire I have ever used. These tires are the only ones I have ever felt confident enough on to drag a knee in the rain. The 190/50 in comparison to the 180/55 was a bit sluggish, and required a bit more bar effort to turn in. Both sizes gave no noticable difference in stability while leaned over on the brakes or on the gas.

I personally have gone with the 180/55 and will stick with it as I can not find fault with these tires. Only reasons to go with the 180 is that it turns in a tad easier/quicker, and its CHEAPER.....just some of my expierences with tires on the 10....Happy motoring all.

Luckily, most of my track days lately have been riding on other people's bikes and tires. Always the best way to do it.
I still have the original tires on at 5000 miles. And I don't ride slow. I have no idea how some of you maniacs wear out tires so quickly. You need to learn about "tire management"... I'll be changing them shortly to some sticky Dunlops or Bridgestones (mostly because they just appear for "testing purposes" ).
You ride safe you animal!

Kerry....most of the reason I go through tires is trackdays. I know tha tRoebling Road is very abrasive and tears tires up badly. Putnam isnt too hard on tires, and Road A as you well know is very hard on the right side of tirews as well.

And I dont get to ride other peoples bikes on the track, I have to use mine, and buy the tires....unless of course you will let my borrow yours????

Oh, hell. I went through D208 ZRs like there was no tomorrow. Then I went to Pilot Powers. Second set now, though I stopped riding street for the most part.

I've always run 180/55. Much faster turning, IMO, and the bike 'feels right' with them.

I've not taken my 10R to the track yet (next year, I'll probably race the f'er), but I use Michelins DOTs (PR5 rear in 180/55) over the taller 190/55 on my 6R. I know, not apples-apples, but there it is.
