My buddy had his 05 stolen. Man is he lucky. They don't work and really have no potential without massive cash infusions. The 06 will likely be more of the same, with some new graphics of course. Honda isn't about delivering the goods in their streetbikes. They build platforms that need $1 million in extras to get on the podium. Luckily for them they have built a large army of sheep who, like my buddy, will buy a glazed dog turd if it says Honda on it.

If it's a Honda, it's an appliance, sole exceptions the CBX and HRC equipment. I'd be just as excited reading an out-of-date issue of Maytag Repairman Monthly as reading about a production Honda.

what i've read in comparos is that honda's bikes are invariably more refined and easier to ride fast. this being the case, i'm surprised a group of riders who frequently confess prefering performance over looks would bash the honda so much. or is it not actual performance but performance FEEL that y'all hodl as your top priority?

i for one preferred hondas when i started biking, at least from what i read in the mags, primarily because they were always touted as the most comfortable bike. my reason for going Kaw with the 12R was simply because it was one of only 2 bikes whose ergos actually fit me. now that i've been riding for a few years and become accustomed to the sportbike position, i feel comfortable on alot more bikes than i did then, but the 12 still is the most comfy bike for me (but not by much). as a more general commment, i wish manufacturers wouldnt continue to shrink their sportbikes. i realize this is done to keep weight down but damn, soon i'm gonna have to go to beemers or HDs to find something that fits!

Feel? Comparos? You think a bunch of retards from a magazine know what works? The Honda is the easiest to ride SLOW, which is how the magazine guys ride.

The magazines' spin has really worked well.

Invariably the Honda was found in fact the least fast of the Japanese literbikes (the MV Agusta being faster too) in every regard. And found the heaviest and the one with least power, by a pretty good margin.

And now, their savvy "save" of that situation by writing "Ah, but it's easier to ride fast!" has you suggesting that the Honda actually has the most performance. But no it doesn't.

Not that it's a total slug. I do not intend to exaggerate. But it's certainly the lowest-performance of the current literbikes.

And Honda philosophy almost undoubtedly will continue de-balling whatever their engineers might want to do. That's simply what Honda does with their production bikes. (As opposed to the HRC machinery.)

Which inspires a great marketing slogan for Honda: "If you're a ball-less wonder, ride a Honda, so are we!"

Ya know as strange as it may seem Tim Rokitt1200 from the .org purchased a Honda1000RRRRRR or whatever it is. Funny thing is Tim was one fast guy on the 12R. Not to offend anyone but I would pick Tim as the fastest guy in the group at DG05 .org. I quickly spotted his skill. Honestly speaking there was only a fist full of fast riders at the rally. Again I liked all these guys and hold them in the highest reguards as my friends and peers. I just couldn't understand why Tim picked that bike to purchase. He rode the new GSXR and the 10R as well, but picked the Honda. I respect Tim knowledge and skills so there must be something that is worth lookin at or he wouldn't have given it a second look. Epstein also has one of those things and loves it. Brian is also a very knowledgable rider and has also owned a very nice 12R. The one thing positive that I can add about the Honda is the build quality is second to none.

I had an early deposit down on a ZX-10 in '04...I was coming off of a ZX-12 and had heard the 10r was going to be the bike to have. I decided to cover the bases and put a deposit down on the CBR and R1 as well. When the 10r came in I went down to close the deal and I was underwhelmed. I thought at the time that the side exhaust was outdated, I did not like the instrument panel, the clutch cable ran directly across the instrument panel, no steering dampner etc...basically all the things we know now. I have to admit I wanted to just get it but I had not seen the Honda yet and I hesitated.

I ended up seeing the CBR the next week and bought it. Honda is known around the Globe for their quality and it shows. I have had several Kawi's in the past and while I loved them all, they do not have the same build quality and attention to detail as the Honda's. They have a very elegant and clean solution to the steering dampner as well. While it may not make the same HP as the Kaw, it is not far off. Besides, opening any of these things up in the area I ride in is a risky proposition both from potential tickets to assholes in cages.

Finally, I got a chance to ride a 10r over the summer....it had a nice twin undertail exhaust that came together under the tailsection that looked much better actually than the stock new one does. It was a beast as most Kawi's are, but it made a lot of gear whine, could not see the tach for shit and it was very twitchy and light on the gas.

So at the end of the day no matter what anyone will tell you, the CBR 1000 is a nice machine that some folks write off because it is "underpowered", as if a 150HP bike on the street could not be exciting to ride. Not bashing the 10r at all, just 2 cents from someone who has a CBR.

I've had it, now I have a ZX10R

Being a former owner of an 04 CBR1kRR and now the proud new owner of a ZX10R (Lime-I hear it's the faster one), I can say that even though they're in the same class they're not the same bike. Now I'm 6'1 210lbs so my opinion is just mine.
The riding position is easier on the ZX.. you can ride with just your throttle hand on the bars all day if you want, the CBR on the other hand is more stretched out so this is hard to do.
The seat on the CBR is about the same thickness but is softer for a more comfortable ride. Kawasaki's have always been known for hard seats.
Handling goes both ways. The CBR is a little heavier so it's more fogiving, but the ZX is razor sharp and does EXACTLY what you tell it to do. For an unexperianced rider, this is a problem.
Power, the ZX is all over the CBR. The CBR is more linier and you don't have that killer rush the ZX has, but I've never lifted the front tire of my CBR in 3rd in stock form. Of course I'd never do that on my ZX.. lol
Over all opinions on the two, they're both a blast to ride if you're someone that knows how to ride. The harder you push them, the better they respond. The CBR is a more refined machine, but that motor in the ZX is a blast. If you're wanting a balls out, wildest 1k ride, the ZX is the way to go.. hmm maybe next year I'll buy an R1 just to see.. naaaaaaa

After owning 2 CBR954s with 25,000+ street miles and 3 days at the track and then a ride on a CBR1000...

... cheaper to buy a 954 with -1 front, half exhaust retaining the HTEV, and a steering dampner. You'll still be 5-8 hp short but also about 30 lbs less weight. I think Honda shot themselves in the foot, the 1000 needs work and when it get's work it works great but it'll cost ya(Ten Kate Edition CBR1000RR).

After owning 4 Hondas I was a Honda faithfull til the 1000 came out. In came the ZX12 and the 2nd 954. Now looking at the 06 ZX10.

Now let's see if they have made it as light or lighter than the 954 it replaced two years ago.
