I hope that needle shows up better than in the pic.

You don't want something where you have to continue looking at it for a second or two before putting the image together; you want something that you don't even need to actually aim your eyes at to immediately pick up.

True enough, no needle will ever beat that for that purpose; it can still be desirable though to see how much "room" is left.

When I was younger (not that I'm that old, I'm 43) I could see the needle of conventional tachs quite easily in my peripheral vision. These days, even though my vision at that distance is just as good if directly looking at something, for whatever reason picking it up peripherally doesn't work. So for me it's by ear in judging how much room is left, rather than from the tach anyway, the tach really being for recalibrating and validating what the ear judges. However, since I used to be able to do it myself, I know that some or many others can with a good analog tach read it without wasting time looking at it. With this thing, I wonder.

That needle looks like an LCD needle to me and probably a bitch to see in the daylight. I like the look much better. I would bet it would work on a 05 unless they have changed the electronics radically. The damn thing needs a fuel gage.

I'd guess it's a different plug style. that tach looks just as bad or worse than the 04/05.

Once I get use to a motor I shift by ear and seat of the Ass pull. It usually is dead on. Also the vibrations a motor makes is usually very constant for a given RPM and I get use to that as well. Who needs a tach after the first few hundred miles of getting use to a new motor? I don't
