Would you switch brands?
Consider an R1? or a CBR1000? What if the changes to those bikes were substantial, and you found out about it here?
Would there be a CBR1000 Zone?
Would you go?

I like to think I would...but I've always been drawn to Kawasaki. I love all types of bikes and brands, but I always wind up on a K. I've had a range of kawasakis and they are fun bikes; from my old 2-stroke 750, to a 74 z900, '94 zx7e, 95 zx9r, 01 zx12r, and now an 05 10r. I've never been left stranded with any of them, never had to rebiuld one or do anything but maintenance and I ran them all hard. I'll probably stick with KHI...

I am a Kawasaki fan, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't consider something else. I rode an R1 for a couple of years. But I have never had anything that was as much fun as the ZX10. The current G1K doesn't trip my trigger. Neither does the '05 or '06 R1. But the LE does look better. The CBR1000 doesn't do it for me, either. If the '06 ZX10 is obviously better than the '04/'05 ZX10, I would consider that before the others, if I was in the market for a new liter bike. I am just not sold on the exhaust. I will have to wait until I see it in person before I form my final opinion.

While there are other motorcycles I may get along the way, I am always gonna be a die-hard brand-loyal Team Green fan. Kawi all the way!
I already put my deposit down on the new 10R, all black!

I couldn't agree with Sponge Bob more on this one. I am dealer loyal though.

What the hell is wrong with the '05?? I'm loving the shit outta this bike! I honestly am very happy I purchased the '05 due to the fact I seriously think the '06 is way fugly...Hate their new tach...can't stand the pipes sticking out on the bottom...always will love the side exhaust! If I had the choice between the '05 and '06 and didn't have neither...I would go with the '05 without an inkling of a doubt!

I bleed green. Although my first bikes were Yamahas.and I loved them. But I will stick with Kwak. For me to switch, another brand would have to be leaps and bounds better, and I don't think that is probable. Also I absolutely love the 05 ZX10. I wouldn't mind a better tach but other than that I am dazzled. To me it is effortless to ride, I have to hold myself back to keep the bike from tuning too sharp. The transitions from side to side are just simply amazing. Now maybe if I were still a hard core racer things might be different, But alas I am just a street rider that has an awesome bike, although it could use about 20-30 more ponies.

Twenty grand!
You are best to buy a great used 04 black 10R that has a ton of aftermarket parts that will blow an 06 away. Find one thats like brand new if you can,

A recent article in, I forget, either [i[New Scientist or [i[Scientific American had an interesting take on the psychology of choice. Namely, comparing people's happiness when all else is equal except the number of choices available to them.
One might think that the wider the spectrum of choices available and of a sort that the person seriously considers, the happier the person should be. But this is not so. Optimal happiness in fact occurs when the person makes a choice out of a fairly limited set. People do prefer having more than once choice, and more than two, and more up to some fairly modest number that I forget; but past that actually more choices results in more dissatisfaction.,
It wasn't demonstrated, so far as I recall, for a fact exactly why this is. The authors hypothesized that it was because the more choices that were seriously considered as possibly also being best, the greater the sense of loss of not getting those choices. E.g., if there are several other things that also struck you as great choices, you wind up with remorse that you could have had those -- but when your choices were out of a more limited pool, you have greater happiness because you have less or no sense of loss in not having the other things.
Be that as it may, in many things (but not all) I have found it a good policy that almost invariably has worked very well for me to find companies that consistently deliver quality products that I like, and then tend to limit my choices to those companies. Now, this only happens when the company earns it... and could be subject to change if they no longer cut it.
However, being a Kawasaki loyalist has NEVER left me short or disappointed. Oh, there have been a few times I've been kept waiting for Kawasaki's answer, but that answer has always come, and it is not as if through most of my life I have generally been able to buy a new bike every year anyway.
I have no agony over the Yamaha R1 being good or whatever, no remorse, no sense of loss that I bought the 12 and not it, while the "I have no loyalty to brand" guy quite possibly, for the above psychological reason, has that nagging feeling that maybe he should have bought something different, and thus has lower satisfaction.
Not that the other three Japanese brands don't produce good bikes in their own way as well -- if someone chooses to be a loyalist of any of those brands or none, they can still get good motorcycles. But do they over time do better than the Kawasaki loyalist:? I think not, either in performance or in satisfaction.
