Custom Power Commander map or not?
Hi Folks,
So almost finished the break-in (the weather is sh!t in UK most of the time), and I'm wondering whether I should ask Santa for the funds to get a custom PC map made up.
I've got;
2005 ZX-10R (green)
Akrapovic slip on, without the baffle in
Power Commander III USB
Euro 10R, Akropovic, map from the DynoJet website.
When I'm running up to to a stop line (coasting + off the gas), I get a lot of popping and banging.
Is this normal? I also get enough to cause a backfire.
Don't get me wrong, I kinda like it, but I'm not sure it's the best way of endearing myself to the neighbours.
Any thoughts on whether it's worth the £175 it's going to cost to get a custom map made up, or is the map from the PC website good enough?
(Might not reply too quick as I'm away on the bike for a holiday weekend, back Tuesday)
____________
Shiney side up,
Sticky side down.

-the cause is a lean condition
-I don't have a problem with the popping, becasue the bike respond better when you come back on the gas (my opinion)
-I am sure there are some that will disagree, but it's your choice to richen the map in your 0 and 2% throttle position. This should take care of the backfiring.
-some will tell you by your fresh air system, but I have mine on my 05 zx10
-you can remove it and still have the back firing, if you run the mix lean
