zx10r gas milage?
Wow, I forgot a good question. I have an 04 zx10r and my gas light goes on after like 85 miles. I am not sure how much I have left after that but I would say another 20-50 miles? What sort of milage are you guys getting out of your zx10r's? I am consistantly running around 28-30 mpg. But I have heard guys saying they get 42 with a slip-on and riding through the twisties. Everyone wanna post what they get and their mods? anyone have any input on my crappy milage? I used to ride a honda F4 and would not have to fill up for a week, now I am filling up twice a week with the same amount of milage.

I just put 3000+ miles on my 10R during the last 2 weeks. Bike consistantly got 125-130 miles before the idiot light came on... that was if I was being gentle on the throttle. If I was kicking the shit out of the bike (read... leave in 1st or 2nd right at powerband) the idiot light came on at 90 miles......

I get 150 miles to every 3.8 gal. of gas, call me lucky. I only ride on the freeways and rarely ride the street. Track only.

150 miles for 3.8 gal? I will use that as a reference. What do you have done to the bike? Also, what RPM range do you tend to stay in? I tend to stay in the 6-8k range more than half the time and a little less half the time, but I do race alot up to the redline. I think I was getting 98 miles for 3.5 gallons. I just got a PC3 so I hope that helps out a little. I was told that my PC3 map take away alot of gas so that should help me.

I just have a slip on. On the freeway I cruise around 5.5-6.5K thats about 85mph. I really dont ride that fast while street riding. But after the question was asked I looked in some magazines over the past few month and found 40mpg was on par with the shootout results. As a matter of fact I get the same gas milage on my 10R as do I with the 636.

Mine is bone stock, and I have been getting about 40. For the past week it has been over 100 and so I have been riding up and down the truck route to Virginia city. Which I have been using a mnimum of freeway to get there. Then it is nothing but twisty roads and I have been putting on 110 miles just going up and down. Now the milage has dropped to about 35ish.

I wonder why mine is doing 28 mpg then? That is really low. All I have is an M4 slip-on and nothing else. Anyone know what might be making my gas mileage so poor?

You're riding style makes all the difference there, ike. Sounds like you ride with a style similar to mine and I'm averaging 28-31mpg as well. These other guys get their speed/power fixes on the track and therefore aren't gunning the throttle on their 10's on the street.

Bone stock, '05 10R I get 40-42 MPG. Weigh about 210, cruise mostly on highways at 7-8k average in 6th...no redlining but hard shifting @9-10K (often but less than half the time)...my big, fat & heavy 04 Busa does about the same milage too...
