Holy Sh#t

Well, today I took delivery of my brand new 2005 zx10. I never trust anyone else to work on my bike, so as soon as I got home I went over everything that they touched during the build process (windscreen assembly, battery, etc.) Well, it turns out the large nut on top of the main triple clamp (a.k.a. the "Jesus nut") was finger tight!!

So, does anyone know the torque spec on this?? Also, what size is it?? A 32mm appears to be too small. Thanks.

The stem is one of the attachment point for the shipping crate. Once the crate nut is removed, it is replaced with the bike's nut. Usually put on figer tight while attending to the rest of the P&A. Over looking tightening it is one of the most common oversights.

Did you call the service manager at the dealership about it?

Thanks for the torque spec, Lizard. Yeah, I called the service manager about it. He apologized and said someone will get an ass reaming. He also offered to make it up to me by giving my 1st oil change for free. Although it was a nice gesture, I think the last thing I want is these guys wrenching on my bike again.

When I picked up my 10 I noticed the panel between the seats had a cross threaded screw leaving the plate loose. I repaired the hole myself. I didn't want them to touch my bike again not to mention the down time. I remember what they did to my ZX-9
