-10 Oil change of irritation... Humph... (dont know how many people get the D&D reference)...
but.. whatever... just changed the oil (to nice new Elf full synth) and remembered just how frigging irritating it is to remove the filter, and to add oil...
anyways... it's nowhere near as irritating as getting to the battery on the 12R , so they must've killed or fired the guy who designed the battery tray on that bike.. guess they left his slightly more intelligent distant cousin in charge of the filter access and the oil filler hole on the 10R ____________ What business is it of yours where I'm from, Friendo?

Yeah, wtf? Oil change is a no brainer on the 10. Unless you put some cheesy aftermarket pipe on it. Do you own any tools? It helps if you have the right tools. How about skill? Have you managed to acquire any of that? Very useful stuff. Invaluable even. Kids these days...

uh.. I have all the tools... still irritating... filet barely clears headers.. ev en less with wrench on it.. presoaking filter means oil all over yer headers... foil etc on header just a waste of time..
refilling annoying... opening so steep and shalllow that funnel barely gets in there... then u have to add REAL sow and shove a rag inbetween case and bodywork to catcch excess...
wouldnt be that bad, but I just dd the 636 (as they are sideby each) and the 636 is a piece of cake.. filter comes off.. oil goes in... no mess... no origami...

well You think Zx-10r is a MF to change the oil. Try to do the same on GSX-1000r 2005 and you'll see what a real Mother Fu.... are. Instead of putting the filter parallel to the motor, they put it perpendicular to it. You just can't use a filter wrench you need that damn strap thing.
And they put it just close enough of the header, that you be sure to do a mess.
And you can't fit a pure one filter (Purolator) you have to put a motorcycle filter who cost your ass. And that it's forgetting the stupid screw inside the fairing you can't unscrew with a normal screwdriver due to the lack of space.
So....
Your lucky you buy a Kawasaki.

OEM filter is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
