Ran up against a Busa today
I was heading on a long straight going to Downieville and a red Busa comes up from behind, he comes along side and we hit it. The 10 pulled away pretty easily. This is a good sign. The 10 seems to run better each time I ride it.

i tell ya, when it first came out i called BS at those who claimed it beat the 12R & busa, but it has certainly proven to be true. never ceases to amaze me.

Fish, truly the thing just doesn't seem that fast to me. It could be that it is so easy to ride. The real question is what would the 12 have done? But it is now getting some miles on it over 2000 now and it is feeling much more powerful. Also today a guy on a 929 commented that he couldn't believe how fast the bike was and asked me how long I had been riding, When I told him 35 years, he said "Oh that is the reason I couldn't keep up" Nice compliment, but it does remind one how old they are.

Have you guys run up against 12s and Busas?

I'm not completely sure if my 10 would walk-away from my 12 (2003). My 12 put out almost 177hp & 98 ft tq. The 10 is between 152 - 159 hp & 74 (+/-) tq depending on fuel. Although 100 pounds heavier, the 12 didn't "feel" slower, just more solid. Perhaps some of the Drag Racers here who had/have both can comment on what they think.

I swear my 12 feels faster. Although the 10 has about 2200 on it now and is feeling much stronger. The 10s 100 mph 1st gear is a hoot, even above 7000 feet is allows me to loft the front wheel exiting corners on most every twisty road.Doing the same thing on the 12 would have me banging the rev limiter, at a much lower speed.

wonder if the 12 feels faster than the 10 jsut because of the snatchy throttle response? sounds very similar to all the reviews i've read on the 2004 litre bikes where the honda was said to feel slowest despite having the best lap times.

At what speed did you guys back out of it?
Red / Blk Busa is a 2005 color?

165-170ish
It could have been that it wasn't broken in. It looked new. But he has a plate and most usually wait the 30 days. Actually the Busa looks pretty good in red.

the zx10r 2005 that i have has all the optional items , and from a roll , it has never been beatin from a roll , not busa's, 12s,1000rr's, or r1's

Only raced 1 ZX10 and it was at the strip I was on my 12. The 1st race he got the jump on me bad but I ran him down and nicked him at the end. The 2nd race we left at about the same time and I just pulled away from start to finish. The 10 had a full Acrapovic, PCIII, and gearing with a 180-190lbs rider, my 12 had 18,000 miles, full Muzzy, PCIII, -1 front and I prolly weighed about 155-160 at the time.
However after riding a stock 10 recently with only 1000 miles on it, it felt slugish down low but on top felt faster than my 12 with all the stuff listed above. Very healthy!

but we know its not, well not faster than mine cuz its orange, yours on the other hand may feel that way. LOL

I have a 2005 zx10r , full akro , bmc filter, ivans tre, lowered 4" ,strapped, streched 8 inch's, 4 up in rear , 2 down in front , bikes been 9.15 et's with a 1.58 60 foot will go 8's with a 1.48 60 , havent had any problems with 12's or busas on the street!

I read a lot of tests and I certainly don't remember that the CBR ever had the best lap times, except in the hands of novice riders that were far slower than the better riders.

You aren't racing on the street with a bike that is stretched 8 over (it won't hook)...
Hell i blow the tire off my Busa in 1st and it's only stretched 2.5"...

the 10 is quicker then the 12r and the busa but they they both have more top end speed its hard to tell cause when take off racing someone after you get ahead everyone usally lets up but if you where to say in it the 12 & 13 would evenually catch up...this is just the fact that more cc's is more cc's..

Ran up against another one yesterday, I had passed a red Busa that was sitting on the side of the road and later I stopped to make a phone call, he then went by and was pointing forward, so I took it as a challenge. I took off after him and he passed a few cars and had clear road in front of him and when I finally got around the cars he was on it hard and had a pretty good head start on me. I was able to easily reel him in and pass. I stopped and turned around and he just kept on going. Oh well.

dunno - i just got 05 10R last week fitted with full hindle, PCIII and filter. After getting adjusted to it I'm not so sure its faster str8 line than my 99 busa....as far as running away from a busa on a str8 line run and having to stop and wait...prolly the rider more than anything.
10R is a keeper though - doesn't behave as well as an R1 but all that scowl certainly keeps you on your toes.

10R is a keeper though - doesn't behave as well as an R1 but all that scowl certainly keeps you on your toes.
You will find it gets much much stronger as it gains milage. Doesn't really start to run good until 5000 plus miles.
