dipped into the power

ok first i put 340 miles not going over 4000 rpms, changed the oil& filter, then rode the bike gently bringing the rpms to different levels with finally bringing up to about 9500 rpms.now i dont know if my previous bike 2003 12r was a lemon, granted my 12 was quicker off the start, with more, seems like quite abit more bottom end. but ill tell you what ,what the 10 did at 9500 rpms amazed me omfg it shit all over my 12,wich i still loved my 12,but 2cnd and 3rd gears on the ten wheelied no problem at that rpm level and in 3rd gear thats pretty fast, love the way it handles love the way it looks ,i thought i would miss my 12,i dont.

I wish mine felt as powerful. I really think this thing is affected by the altitude severly.

hi ted, it must be the altitude the3rd gear one was about a 3/4 wheelie but with another 500-1000 rpms it would have been a full wheelie, are you double craking the throttle? i remember a couple years back someone on the zx12 board also in a high altitude area that they couldnt do 1st gear whellies on there 12 was that you.

1st has always been pretty easy on the 12, unless you go up past 7500 feet and then if it is hot it won't come up. But at 4500 feet, it isn't coming up in second. no way Jose. The only way I get a second gear wheelie on the 12 is to carry it through 1st. Right now the 10 is about the same except that I have to be going faster to throttle wheelie it >50. I also have been trying to double crack it in second and it won't come up. I am trying it at different speeds, problem is finding a place I can hold it at 90-110 to experiment. The front wheel will get light and do a dance at the top of second, which is good. Again hopefully it will loosen up more and come to life. I remember the 12 took a while to break in.

Well I have already made it through 3rd, but had to carry it through. It really ate up a ton of ground doing that.

So you're saying you carried a 3rd gear wheelie through redline?

I won't say redline, because I cut it short and I short shifted. redline in second may have been faster. but it was well into 3rd..
