I have that magazine and missed that. Although I hadn't really scanned the whole thing. It kind of sucks that those rags pay so little attention to good products unless there is advertising bucks in it for them. Instead of testing them they relegate them to a tiny blurb and the rest of their magazine is chock full of their inane drivel.

Ted - they actually do a very good job, with a very tough situation. The editors are bombardied by advertisers and ad sales staff trying to compromise the integrity of the system. The amount of new product releases they get is staggering. The primary reason you see more releases in the mags from advertisers, is because advertisers do the best job of marketing and sending in press releases in readily useable formats/specs.
I know most of the industry magazine editors and ad reps and I can tell you first hand that the "advertorials" just do not happen as much as people think. Even when I worked for the larger industry players and was spending millions in advertising, I was consistently seeing press releases from companies and/or products that I didn't even know about. And of course they weren't advertising because they were new and/or had no budget. But they had a good and/or unique new product and a savy person doing their marketing homework. Besides the fact that the editors thought is was a cool product. But make no mistake, the editors call the shots on press releases, not the ad reps. They simply can't afford to be blatently biased anymore.

Thanks for the info. It just seems to me that having read these magazines for over 35 years very little useful info comes out of them IMHO. Or at least not enough. In my mind there should be ongoing tests on, tires, helmets, pipes, apparel, etc. That being said, it seems that they do these things yearly and that forces the customer to subscribe so they can catch the test. But I have got to the point where I have to throw out magazines or I wouldn't be able to walk through my house. And then when I need info, like 3 weeks ago (bought my 10 and another new helmet) I couldn't find squat. Just had to rant.

No problemo Papa - As long as you work for intern wages like me...
I had an intern here for 2 weeks who wanted to learn how to operate a dyno and some of the dynamics involved when tuning or changing things. He was not a true enthusist, but was considering "getting into bikes". In exchange for me teaching him, he swept the floors, cleaned the moto-x bikes, and took the dog out for walks during the day. I think he made more off the deal than I did !!! . On his last day here we let him run a few bikes himself on the dyno. You never saw someone shite their pants so quickly. He hit the soft limiter on my 10 and thought he blew the thing up. We of course told him that he did and that his internship was immediately terminated. We could only hold off cracking up for about 10 minutes. Man, was he relieved when he realized we were kidding.... Oh life's little pleasures....
