Powdercoat?

I'm thinking about powdercoating the wheels as the paint is flaking off in a few spots.

Any drawbacks with these whels being so light?

Should I have the wheels painted instead?

Anyone in "the know" or with any experience with the 10 wheels amd this process?

Thanks.

i'm kinda interested in this too. the paint is comin off the front wheel big time due to all the rust that came off the steel brake rotors over winter. i dont particularly want to polish them, but am concerned about the cost of powdercoating.

No drawbacks. But get them powder coated. It's much more durable and looks way nicer.

Just make sure they coater doesnt blast the bolt holes and leave the rotor area raw.
Typically most powder coat guys just stick the part in the blast cabinent, then shoot it and bake it. If you're looking for a show finish... sanding and painting might be better.

My only complaint about powdered wheels is if they chip... you cant really touch them up like you can with paint.

If you do go with powder....make sure the color has some depth (ask for a finished sample) or have them shoot some clear over it.

I am going to strip the paint off the edges and paint the centers green. I am just waiting to burn off these shit tires. My 12 turned out beautifully and the 10 will look as good if not better. Then you don't have to worry about paint or powder coat wearing off.
Powder coating requires you to sand blast the parts first to get a good bond.
