Clutch problem or plugs?
I just put on a new set of D208's and I put about 100 miles on them. Took her on the the highway and in second gear I hammered the throttle and the rpm's go up but it feels like the rear tire is just spinning and then takes grip. The other guys that I was riding with said that the tires are not spinning. There is no problems shifting its on when I rip it. One of the guys said that it could be my plugs? I'm in need to replace them but does this sound right! I also put some injector cleaner for bikes in. And in that tank of gas I noticed it.

Is it still under warranty? Sounds like the clutch to me. What oil are you running? Did you put any additives in the oil?

I have a set of frictions you can have cheap. They have the opposite problem. You have to hold the clutch lever in for a full second before they release. Longer when the motor is cold. I ordered new ones yesterday (don't feel like cleaning these in case it's more than just waxy yellow buildup or something).

It's the clutch, but not for sure your plates are fried. I would check the stack. I replaced mine around 6k miles. The metal looked fine, but the height wasn't correct

Dude. The D208s are a pair of crap tyres. I know cause I had them on my 02 R1 OEM. Not only do they spin under sudden power when cold or moderately warm (clutch up wheelies), they have the nasty tendency to slide out at the slightest hint of corner power out. And due to Dunlop's 'oval' shaped tyres, the D208 will cause your bike to wobble at speeds above 260km/h. Good points of this tyre? 1) lasted me 17000km 2) absolutely a dream to bank into a corner (which is why the D208GP is godly)
The D208GP race tyre however is a totally different story. Soft race compound factored in with the Dunlop 'oval' shape allows for excellent grip and cornering stability during track days. Not advisable for road use though.
I know it's a little side tracked from your topic but I think your rear DID spin. It's just so typical of these D208s to give up under pressure.
Please do yourself a favor and switch to some other tyre. Sportec M1s or BT012SS are definately MUCh better. Your bike will thank you.
