OT: CBR1000RR?
I'm considering treason (Buying a new Honda), but I wanted to read what the owners have to say about them first. Does anyone know of a good CBR1000 forum?

The 1000rr guys on the hill use a lot of intersting excuses as to why they can't keep up. Gearing is the most common, followed by that perennial favorite, tires. If the power of a real literbike intimidates you, there are a lot of economies to be had in a gixxer 750. No need to be disappointed by a Honda.

Honda makes great solid bikes, Just not the fastest ones.
I'm sure you would have fun but going from a 12 to that thing might leave you wanting more power.

Thanks for the relplies. I was thinking that the Honda is within 6HP of the zx10-R (according to the magazine reviews), so it shouldn't be down on power, right? It felt more comfortable sitting on it and frankly, it looks a lot better than the ZX-10. Not that I would buy based on looks alone, but if it's more comfortable and the HP difference is negligible, I thought it deserved some consideration. Besides, I'm not, nor will I ever be, Freddy Spencer (showing my age here maybe?) so the last shred of performance is lost on me anyway.

Longer wheel base on the 1000rr. A bit heavier also, but negligible. Also uglier than a 10r.

I'm kinda wishing i would have gotten 1000rr instead of my 10r
it may be slower but I bet it wouldn't be leaking oil in my garage!!!!!!!
Oh well..
I was fliping between the 2 bikes and ended up with the 10r but i wanted to try and keep up with a 12r so it was a no brainer.
I think either would be great bikes though.
The black looks good on both.
I think your looking at more then 6 HP difference though.
also it's been my expirence that honda's don't get extra HP gains easily or cheaply.

Someone needs to go to the Honda 1000 site and suggest selling their slower 2004 1000 Honda to buy a 05 ZX-10R...just a thought ... hahaha.

I watched a '04 10R with 900 miles put down 144rwhp... then 10 minutes later on the same dyno, a 1000RR with 450miles put down 144rwhp. Have yet to see a 10R make significantly more power than any of the the other liter bikes, and twice made less than a stock R1.
IMO, the CBR is the better looking bike, but neither suit my needs.

Well...... On the street, the CBR and the ZX10 are a toss-up. You can flick the 10 a little easier, but the CBR is definetly more stable. Powerwise - you need the racetrack to really tell the difference or a long straight-away. In the twisties, it's a toss-up. If someone is going faster on the 10, than on the CBR, it's the rider; not the bike. I don't go any faster on the 10 (than the CBR) where I ride; and I don't ride very slow..... One guy I ride with is hella-fast on his CBR. If I'm in front, he can't get around me. If he's in front, I can't get around him. And he outweighs me by 40 lbs. We don't light them into orbit on the straight-aways. That's not the we play on Ortega. But the 10 is faster in a straight line, no doubt.
As I've added up the miles on the 10, it's a fact that it is very sensitive to input, very close to the twichy side. When transisioning in the corners, you need a lot of weight over the front end and careful bar pressure, or the 10 will click the bars and let you know.... I only do track-days and twisties. The CBR is not twichy by any means and I put close to 3 months of solid riding on a pre-production model. Both are great bikes. But I think a less experienced rider is better suited to the CBR. The 10 can get you in trouble faster when you push it, if you don't know how to push it.... IMHO.

i like using the edwards style of riding, poking the head out and forward.
i started doing this on the sp1, seemed biased to the rear.
sure is fun though on the 10 thru turns, on the gas flicking it over front wheel comes up, hehe.

I have a 1999 honda cb750 for sale..........give me $3000 and I'll kick you in the nutz and we'll call it even. Just kidding. I like every thing but the way the front fairing covers the front tire. Other wise nice bike. Either way enjoy.
