your general impression of your ZX10r
Much like the rest of you I am very much a Kawi fan. Started 12 years ago on a ZX600r and moved to ZX7r that I am currently riding. I do about 400km/week commuting(mostly hwy) and 200km weekend riding the twisties where I live.
I have been watching the ZX10r with interest and now have the opportunity to upgrade to one. I can use some advice / experience in term of using it as an all around bike - mostly commuting weekdays and agressive riding on the weekend. I don't think I will be doing any touring - the bike isn't designed for that. I will probably take in some track time to get more out of the bike. How expensive is insurance, how hard is it on tires, comfort etc. Thanks

Do it man !!! You wont regret it.It is a real head turner.I get lots of questions about it when filling up with gas.Seems like everyone has read or has heard it is a "BAD" machine.I have around 3500 miles on the original tires. My insurance thru Progressive runs around 700.00 a year.It runs strong and handles well.Good luck.

Whoo. Where to begin?
It's a dream to ride.
It's easy for me to insure, only about $600/6 mo. (cough, cough).
I cannot say [edit] enough [/edit] how well suited this bike is for my kind of riding, I have never felt it's like.

You cannot help but to laugh under your viser when riding this missle. Nothing (almost ) will out accelerate this thing. 3rd gear power wheelies! Handles mint, when equipped with a steering damper. The stock 218 Dunlops lasted about 2000 miles. Put on a set of 014 Bridgestones and never looked back. Insurance for my old self is about $700.00 a year. Just buy one and dont worry about the price of admission to this ride..

I would make love to it if it was possible.
If I wasn't married I would probley keep in inside of my house.
I find myself staring at it all the time.
Does that answer you question?

I visited a local Kawasaki dealer today to look at one closely...it is a great looking bike. The ergo is much better than the zx7r, sloping tank, up and back rearset placement, and the close reach to the bar all suited my 5'7" frame. The downside is that I could barely touch the ground with both feet. I am certain that I will eventually get use to the ZX10r but a bit uncomfortable with the seat height. Last thing I want to do is to lower the rear because that would affect the handling.
I also sat on both the 2004 ZX6r and the new 2005 ZX6r - both are a bit more suited to my height with the seat 3/4" lower than the ten. However I don't want to give up the torque. Plus I really don't like the ZX6r front end and the undertail exhaust make the 05 rear end absolutely huge.
Unfortunately the dealer won't let me test ride unless I sign a sales order conditional on the test ride. Anyone here also height challenged and found this to be of no consequences?

My 10R followed an '01 Gixxer 1000, which followed a '98 R1. What amazed me is how much smaller and lighter the Kawi felt than the Gixxer. A little rough around the edges 'though; lots of buzzing and gear noise. Biggest disappointment was the dyno numbers (149.8 vs. 149.3 for the Gixxer). Of the three bikes, the red and white R1 was probably my favorite.

bro, you will NOT be disappointed with a 10. to tell you the truth, it is the most comfortable bike i have ever ridden. you could EASILY tour on this bike, as well as everything else. i cant get over how comforrtable it is. it fits me like a glove, im 6' tall, but im sure the seating position would suit you, too. I LOVE THIS MOTORCYCLE, AND I CANT STOP RIDING IT. i rode it in pouring rain today, just because it had been raining all week, and i hadnt ridden it, but i love riding it that much. it is such a pleasure to ride. i can not get over how much fun i have on this bike. it is hard on rear tires, but not any harder than any other literbike, from what i've heard. GET ONE, YOU WILL NOT REGRET GETTING ONE. i LOVE, REPEAT, LOVE, this bike.

What a top bike, what is kawasaki going to do next, I thought my ZX7R was fun. Anyone thinking of buying a 10R shouldnt think too long, you would be wasting riding time.. First thing you have to do when you pick your 10R up, get a good can or system, and get a fender eliminator, and a steering dampner... Maybe a front sprocket and PCIII USB. I did, add a rear seat cowl and you have a weapon...... Green, Black, Blue, Orange, I dont care as long as it a 10R
