BABOOM! Edwards!

Signs with Yamaha for 2005!! I fucking *knew* it! When he got that podium and he and Rossi practically screwed in the winner's circle, I was positive he was gonna go to Yamaha.

He hasn't been happy all year. Has been really outspoken about it too. Ya had to figure he was moving somewhere.

Bayliss kicked out of the Ducati camp, going to Kawasaki?
Checa to replace Bayliss at Ducati??? Very smart move, but commercially it is probably better to have a spaniard finish in 10th place on a Duc then an Aussi.
Melandri to replace Edwards?
Barros to Kawasaki?

Melandri is going to replace Edwards. Gibby is getting a full factory ride, since he definately rose to the head of the 'honda brat pack'. We got Shinya, and Alex ain't no slouch. They have been consistently finishing ahead of Hopkins and Roberts. Need mo power...mo power...mo power...

Glad ol' Texas Tornado Homeboy is doin' good! Nice, nice.

Think Hayden is in trouble, though, at Honda. Finishing as far back as he does with a full factory ride? Hmmmm....think Honda will cut their losses?

Time will tell...... All facts considered, I've seen worse years from other "Superstars". I'm sure nobody is more bummed than Nicky.

Nope, Nicky got signed for two more years, I believe. Remember, you gotta be more than just a good rider. Personality *counts*

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait
by dean adams

There seems to be a degree of disbelief floating around about Nick Hayden and HRC hooking up for two more years of MotoGP racing. As in that some people can't believe that HRC re-hired Hayden. As in he didn't deserve to be re-hired.

I feel former dirt tracker Nick Hayden has nothing to be ashamed about in what he's accomplished in Grand Prix in the last two years. He's done a commendable job; maybe it's not that obvious to some, but, in many instances, learning the ins and outs of Grand Prix takes time. Even the now legendary Valentino Rossi didn't have the best time of it when he switched to a 500—even though the Italian 250 champ knew all of the GP tracks, an advantage Hayden did not have when he first throttled down the pit lane.

To better illustrate my point, consider a certain nameless-for-now rider who struggled mightily in Grand Prix for the first seasons he raced there, even though he had some 250 experience on Euro-tracks before he nailed a 500 ride.

In 1997, on a factory 500, this rider finished in thirteenth place in the championship, with a best finish of sixth in the season-ending race. If I remember correctly, back then even the mighty Mick Doohan was bitching about this rider being a wobbler in his early races.

In 1998, on a factory 500 Honda now, this rider finished eleventh in the championship and stepped onto the podium once, after some crashers cleared his way. In 1999 he finished fifth in the world championship.

Frankly, this rider did not obtain the results most thought he would, but he managed to stay on a factory bike and keep learning the craft, even though his results certainly did not warrant it. His nationality helped his cause. If he were American he may have been back racing AMA in 1999, with his tail between his legs.

Who is this mystery rider? None other than Sete Gibernau; You know, Stete, he will finish second in the world championship this season, and almost beat Rossi for the title.

Nicky finished 5th his first year and is curently in seventh........he has been on the podium 4 times. Thats quite a bit better than Colin Edwards who was VERY familiar with most of the tracks and was twice World Superbike Champion......Not to mention the talented Troy Bayliss..........Nicky has done better than both and has much less experience.
