Dyno run this sunday
Well people the time has come. The little blue meanie is now sporting a full Arata sytem with PC3USB. Sunday 10 am we have a appointment for a remap on a 250 with the tuning link software . I will also do a stock versus BMC street air cleaner test. No TRE ...yet. What do you think she will make????? Any pre dyno setup info?? I will definetly lube the chain. Thanks Otto

proper oil level, chain tension and tire pressure are important for good results on the dyno.

Disconnect and block off the air tube feeding the reed valves on top of the head (If you don't have block off plates) while the lamda is in the pipe. If you don't, the dyno will think your engine is leaner than it actually is.

According to my secret inside sources at Kawasaki, a valve adjustment and throttle body synch is good for at least 12 hp

Air pressure up to 35 psi. Tighten the chain. 160 would be really good on pump gas, with a map and full system, BMC. No other cheating now.... Pump gas only Well, itz only cheating if you don't tell us about it.....

(Arata)(BMC_Race)(PC3USB)(DJ250)
Real curious bout' the filter too.
Thanks for keeping us posted!

Question: How does the higher rear tire air pressure help the hp numbers? And about how much?

Rad Cow, The BMC is a street version. The first run will be with the stock(new) air cleaner . Then the BMC is in and will map the bike to it. When the results are in I will attempt to post them. Jim , Rocky will have his little 954 Honda going on after me. What about the (182HP)ZX12 green meanie??? Come on same day dyno runs. Am I making you nervous?

It helps with rolling resistance. More air in the tire means less tire on the roller, which means less resistance; more HP.

Well, I just got back from the dyno. Conditions were good so the correction factor was .99
59.81 F 29.25 baro 36% humidity
Stock air filter was first tested with the arata and a supplied dan kyle racing map. 152.83 hp 75.17 tq
BMC street filter added (right out of the box, full of oil), then several "oil suck out" runs done which did make a difference. stablized at 151.x hp 75.x tq
After the remap... 155.58 hp and 77.31 tq.
The target a/f ratio above 20% throttle was 13.0 but its mostly on average 13.4 or so.
Then the 03 954 went on. arata exhaust and k&n filter. 141.x hp
After a remap 144.x hp
I dont have much more info yet on the little honda other than 144.x hp.

155 seems kinda low but it is all about the dyno.
Like I said I run 158.5 with a slip on, PC3, and custom mapping.
That is on a dyno that has seen most R1's will full exhaust running 161

How many miles are on the bike?
These bikes seem to break in over the course of 2000+ miles.
My bike put down 156 with a bolt-on and BMC Race filter - that was just over 5hp difference as compared to the last time it had been dynoed.
First dyno was at 2200 miles and this result was at 4300 miles with the only difference being the BMC Race filter.
I'm not gonna sit here and say it was the filter though - that might have been good for 1 or so hp.
The bike dynoed at 146 at 1300 miles and 147 at 2200 miles (both runs on different DJ250's).

Those numbers sound spot on for SAE correction. My TiForce dynoed 162 to 161 hp using STD correction. The same dyno chart showed 157.14 hp using SAE correction. That's with a Full TiForce system, custom map, and stock air filter. That also was a Dynojet 250 load control dyno using tuning link software.

No problem...... John at Dyno Solutions is way cool. I plan to check him out again after some winter mods. Your tire wear could also effect the hp numbers. To bad you didn't have a before and after exhaust pull. That really shows what your mods have done for you. I dynoed stock at 148hp SAE, and 154hp STD at FLM. I broke my bike in semi hard. I was briefly taking her up to 10,000 rpm from day one. Even the dealer I bought the bike from said ignore the break in sticker. It's important to work your rings from day one. I always varied my rpm, and hit 10,000 rpm for a short time when possible. As I got more miles, I increased the burst peak rpm. I didn't hold it open for any length of time at high rpm until 1800 miles.

almost identical mods for my 10 (even a blue one too)Arata, BMC, PC usb, and mapped by Chris Hill/Performance Psycle. Also dyno was a 250. Sorry, won't reveal hp numbers 'cause I'm real secretive about that right now, but we were very pleased with this simple set up (nope, valve cover not off this one either.....yet). Bike has 500 miles and is my Prostar bike. Really like seeing more of these Arata's out there. I have the only one in Prostar 1000ss and am looking for a little support from Arata for next season. Wanna see a real good pic of an Arata on a 10R? Go to Dragbike.com pics in the winners/awards page. That should make Arata proud!!!
