New 05 GSXR1000 will kick butt!??
I 'm pretty confidant about the new GSXR1000 kickin butt all over again! These comments from mcnnews.com.au were what I was expecting. Ya gotta give Suzuki credit for not jumpin on the "undertail exhaust bandwagon! See these specs.....
"Suzuki aims to put themselves ahead of the game by significantly modifying the GSX-R1000 donk for the next model, the K5. Current and previous incarnations of the GSX-R1000 displace 988cc but thanks to a marginal increase in bore size the K5 will be a full 999cc.
Helping to fill the larger cylinders are new 44mm throttle bodies with improved injectors. While those changes are confirmed we also believe the K5 model may come with eight injectors rather than the previous four and could also benefit from a larger airbox. That last component will be vital for the continued success in national and international level racing."
We could be in trouble next year!!??? But I hope not

Time will tell! One thing for sure, all those worries about a Suzi-Kaw merger are a thing of the past!

The new suk is going to need more than an engine make up. They are going to need a diet also to match the power to wieght ratio that the 10 holds ahead of the class.

Why doesn't Suzuki do it right and put a factory mini twin turbo on their bike instead of a little tweak here and there? Create some real waves.

Anyone who cares what name is on the tank is a complete dork. I hope they make it significantly better than the 10R. Then Kawi has to catch up, then...

I agree that the 05 Gixxer 1000 will be top dog.I also agree its not a good
looking bike.Suzuki has something to prove,in that it took the others 3 years to at least catch up with them, and even still the current bike can still
run with the others. So the new one should surpass the competition.

As long as Kawasaki sends ringers to the magazine tests ZX-10R will continue to dominate hahahaha.
Seriously... I talked with a older drag head that raced for Kawasaki 30 years ago (he still drag races today for himself).
He swears Kawasaki are the only ones that would take their engines apart, blueprinted them, and would put them back in the crate before sending off for magazine testing... I don't entirely doubt it has been done.
Don't matter too much to me ;I like my ZX-10R in the faster black color either way...

That doesn't make sense to me. Why would kawasaki actually tear apart a complete engine then blueprint. Would't it make more sense just to build to exact specs in the first place and then send it off to the mags?

No. Much more efficient to fix what you have than build from scratch. Most things in life are like that. I'm over my aggravation about the extra 20 hp on the test bikes. I just wish the bastards at Kawi would tell us how they got it. That's the least they could do.

The implied assumption would be they built better than exact standard specs to create a ringer with the goal to bump up Kawi sales ...
Only they really know.
Have fun; ZX-10R is a cool bike.

Has anyone ridden an 04 Gixxer and then immediatley ridden a ZX-10R?
I've ridden the Gix but not the 10. I'm not interested in the 04 R1 as they've made it into a big 600. The only long stroke bikes of the big 4 are the 10 and Gix. Torque is what I'm interested in and wondering which provides the most usable torque during every day and spirited riding conditions.

I own one of each (ok, it's an 02 gixxer). The 10R is faster, no doubt about it. I have a full Akra on the gix and it just ain't got the top end of the Kaw. That said, the gixxer makes power lower in the rev range that the 10R can only dream about. The difference is very apparent, much more so than the top end dominance of the 10R. The gixxer is also more stable and the chassis is stiffer everywhere. I haven't ridden the gix in months though. Hmmmmmm... Maybe 'cause it's so fucking ugly?
