Rattily Humping!

Just wondering if any of you people noticed that the fit of the seat hump cover is rattily as hell!
When I ride this thing I think all the buzzy rattles are coming from there! So I siliconed around the seal area and when it drys we will see what goes!?? I find it's like a bit of an afterthought and cheap!! Which really suprizes me for a Kaw!
Is mine the only cheap rattily one?!???

One thing causing annoyance to my ZX-10R:

The horn which is located under ram air column was rattling like crazy as it's outer rim was laying against metal and when riding ;would annoy big time. Finnally located it as the source of vibrating noice and bent it back away from metal; problem solved.

Hope this helps if you have this problem.;my desrcription is a bit vauge but you should be able to understand once you locate horn and see how it sits.

Have fun;stay alive.

It's a metal to metal hummm. You will be happier once you bend horn outer rim away from touching anything.

Noise would come and go depending on engine speed. Came from the dealer that way. Wonder if dealer assembles that part of bike; but ...whatever got it fixed now.

Rubber Pants

Try puting a thin washer under rear bracket, and two thin rubber washers under the two front stock rubber ones that came with the cowl. (where they latch in the front) . Makes a big improvement on fit , you will have to push a little harder to latch the cowl but its worth it for a good fit!!

Thanks reilly809! I did that too.... I managed to put a bead of silcone around the area that was rubbing and after it dried it's way better!!!

Ya but fish... you were saying back then that "it wasn't rubbing" mine wasn't either till after all this time and I actually had some white powerdery proof of it, and that thing was buzzing back there. I tried all those things you people were suggesting to no avail. The bead of silicone I put under the cowl on either side of the front of it cured it totally. So... thanks it's all good.
I do find though that alot of buzzing from other places, happens too! I guess it's just that the thing is made so light that the faring etc is just loosening or?? Maybe I better wear ear plugs more often!

I prep these bikes for UK magazines and have found that on every one of our press fleet, the two top headlamp bolts work loose from the meter bracket and need to be secured with locktite or similar thread lock otherwise they may resonate through the top cowling, the cowling stops them falling out completely. As for the seat hump make sure that the two rubber dampers are in place otherwise they do rattle.
