Euro Blinker Flash Rate

I installed my Euro Blinkers, and now have all lights operable, but approximately double the flash rate I'd have expected.

This tells me the bulbs draw less current than expected.

Both an FYI on the latest round of blinkers, and a note that I'm not sure which is the better way to go: a solid-state flasher, or change the bulbs. I'll get back to y'all on it tomorrow.

Mine swapped OK.

I wanna know when they hired Rubik over at KMC - cuz he obviously designed those inner fairings.

If you ordered from Muzzy, the directions are pretty clear about swapping the bulbs. Not trying to be a jerk, I just found the directions to be very useful. Glad you got it sorted bro.

Here they are - necessary tools, #4 allen wrench, phillips screwdriver and a stcik of dynamite for each side to aid in removal if the inner panels.

For all those that have swapped their Euro bulbs for their OEM US blubs....

CAN I HAVE YOUR EURO BULBS? PLEASE?

For what ever flakey reason, I much prefer the faster rate of the Euro bulbs. If anything, because of it's uncommonly faster rate of flash, I feel they are more noticable than their US counterparts.

I am serious about wanting your Euro bulbs. I'm not sure I'd be able to find replacements without having to order them from some place in Europe and pay an outragous amount for shipping. UNless someone knows where I can get Euro spec blubs in the US, I'll be screwed when one blows.

If anyone is interested in getting rid of their Euro bulbs, e-mail me at adcraft@sbcglobal.net.

I'm sorry, but that would be a violation of federal law to supply you with bulbs.

swft - when have you EVER been concerned about federal law?

xl - you promised to keep your "bulb in my butt fetish" to yourself.

Directions are for people who get lost...

My eye sort of skipped right over everything on the instruction sheet after 'the inner side panels are held on by two allen-head screws and a rubber grommet over a stud' or words to that effect. At that point I climbed under the bike to see it for myself. When I saw what they meant, I started taking stuff off, then when it was in my hand, it was obvious ('cept for the bulb replacement).

Redelk -

I think the Euro bulb [edit]effect can be gotten from [ /edit] these:
quote:

#1141 Indicator Lamp, S-8 Bulb, SC Bayonet Base, 12.8 Volts, 1.60 Amps, 21 MSCP, C-6 Filament, Length 2.00 in., Dia. 1.04 in., Average Life 1500.

and the US bulbs are:

quote:

Description: 1156 Indicator Lamp
#1156 Indicator Lamp, S-8 Bulb, SC Bayonet Base, 12.8 Volts, 2.10 Amps, 32 MSCP, C-6 Filament, Length 2.00 in., Dia. 1.04 in., Average Life 1200.

It's cheap enough to go to the local AutoParts store and try 'em...

[more edit:] The Euro bulbs were smaller, but on the same base, so look into these for a more exact replacement in size (but less bright, I think):
quote:

#1155 Indicator, G-6 Bulb, SC Bayonet Base, 13.5 Volts, 0.59 Amps, 4.0 MSCP, C-6/C-6 Filament, Length 1.44 in., Dia. 0.75 in., Average Life 5000

You are only lost when you have to ask for directions.

Man I hope you realized about the bulb swapping before you buttoned everything up?

It's done now, that's all that matters. Big improvement visually.

Redelk - I agree with you. Not sure I'll change the bulbs out. Is there any mechanical reason pro or con?

Con, the 1156 bulbs are bigger, and closer to the plastic lens.

Pro, the 1156 bulbs are much brighter.
