Fish-

What does your itinerary look like? I spent almost 4 years in Germany/Europe (just got back last summer). Prague and Amsterdam are definately worth the visit. Are you driving? Here is what I woud do: Drive south from Holland then pick up the Rhine river southbound... it is a very scenic ride. Make sure you stop for lunch or dinner in Rudeseim(Maybe even overnight... it's a cool town). Then pick up A6 Eastbound. I would definately stop in Stuttgart at the Porsche museum/factory. It is only a littly ways off A6. A stop in Rothenburg would be great (it's a walled city... unchanged for 100s of years). The museum of torture in Rothenburg is really cool (lot's of midevil on your ass stuff). Then continue to Prague. Prague is beautiful... and the people are great there. It is very westernized (Dunkin Doghnuts) but still is very old and historical. You can party there too.... I would give Prague a couple days minimum. Then I would head down to the Alps. I don't know if you have enough time but Paris is a great place to visit too. Oh yeah and maybe Spain/Portugal. My wife and I have been almost everywher in Europe, so if you have any questions or anything send them.

Fish! I live above the arctic circle, in a town called Kiruna! Here we have Icehotel.
Look at this: www.icehotel.com
But the weather are ok here because of the gulf stream.

If you're going to Sweden, you might come to Finland on the way also. If so, let me know.

I honestly dont think we'll be heading that far north...

kaw or anyone.. I'd be interested in some online hotel booking resources that would be the European equivalent of hotwire.com or travelocity .... so far I cant seem to find any crappy hotels.... i'd like to find a crappy hotel (under 100 euros/night)... can be right downtown amsterdam or outskirts too as we have a car or could bus blah blah blah... should we wait and get one there (for amsterdam) or book one ahead? ...

I have been to Amsterdam 3 times. You DO NOT want to stay in the city. Parking and driving are next to impossible. You go to the website above and stay at the Holiday In in Leiden Netherlands (Holland). It is in the suburbs of Amsterdam. It has always been under 100 euros to stay there for me (way under... usually about 60-80) It is a very nice hotel, with an awesome breakfast included. It is a 1 minute drive from the hotel to the Metro station. It is a cheap 25 minute subway ride to the center of Amsterdam. If that hotel is booked solid... look for one in Haarlem, another nice town near Amsterdam, and right off the metro. Keep an eye on your wallet and kiwi's purse at the Metro station.
From the Station, you can walk and for the farther stops take the excellent/cheap trolley. Your Hotel will give you a great map of the city. They speak the best english there.

Things you should/ must do in Amsterdam:

1. Ann Frank house
2. Van Gough Museum
3. Visit the Red Light district (it's interesting)
4. Coffee shops (not for coffee) even if you don't get high... interesting to look.
5. The Heinekin museum tour.... excellent tour... lot's of free samples of the best beer on the planet. My favorite tour while I was there.
6. Live sex show.

The nice part about Leiden is that it is only a 25 minute drive to the beach at the Nord sea. Well worth the drive. Nice beach and shopping there. If you have any questions about Europe, please email or call me. I had a great time over there. All I ask is that you share pics/stories when you get back.

In amsterdam check out boom chicago in leidseplein square, kick ass improv comedy show and a fun bar. They also do canal tours out of there that i highly recommend, much better than the big ol tourist boat and if your cool with the guide and tip him well he will show you everything you need to see, not just the tourist trap crap, Allen was our guide.

KMC

KMC Means Kaiserslautern Military Community. Fish probably doesn't know that. I just left there last year. Worked at Landstuhl. Now Im in Sunny SoCal... but I digress.
