clear coat fading....my baby isn't new anymore
I'm starting to rethink my decision to get a black 10R now that every scratch/speck of dust shows immediately. The worst of it is the clear cost on the tank and on the plastic surrounding the rear passenger seat.
I commute 60 miles every day and use a Tour Master tail bag bungeed to the two hooks and the rear sets. I wear full leathers and favour the riding position right against the tank.
After 1200 miles the clear coat on the tank was noticeably faded and the bungee cords on the plastic have also left their mark.
I ordered the plastic tank protected from www.thetankslapper.com and the side pieces for the tank fit awesome, but the center piece needed some work. Now that it is on I don't really care for it and am looking for a permanent center strip.
Anyone else experiencing noticeable clear coat fading/scuffing?

No. Mine's black too.
My tank protector is from LP USA, just a fake-carbon-looking plastic vertebrae strip.
Mine is waxed - that may be the difference - try waxing yours?

I noticed very early on from using a tank bag that the paint seemed very soft and scratched easily. I don't use the tank bag anymore got a joe rocket backpack instead.

I learned on my zx7r that if you practice high chair stoppies and drop your bike you end up not giving a crap about the clear coat!!!!!!!!!

I'd suggest picking up some Novus (from any automotive paint wholesaler/ supplier) steps 2 and 1 (doubt you'd need step 3) .... Novus is what detailers use... a light dose of step 2 followed by 1 and then wax should restore yer finish... you should be waxing that bike all the time... (I'm lazy and I use pledge)

Pledge also, I pull the bike into the living room and do everything at one time . . . (it does work good)
