I hear you, bovine. I ended up removing the (bent) POS pin that came with my 954 kit, and replaced it with a newer, thicker and harder pin of my own. Much better after that, but still a crap design. The Harris bracket was much better, IMO, for the 954. I always use "Never Seize" lubricant under all the washers and nuts when applying torque to the steering stem nut. It seems to help a little.

I just ordered an Ohlins from Kyle Racing on Monday and Dan had them in stock @ $479. Dan did mention that he was sold out of the Scotts right now.
I also prefer the "916 style" dampers, and am glad to hear that Ohlins has improved the bracket mount from the CBR954 models.
