another outtake........
"04 R1 vs 04 Mille Factory vs 04 MV1000:
The MV won!
"-Amazingly,the Mv blasts away, leaving the R1 in its wake.We try the same thing again at 50,60,then 70mph and its the same result.Keeping the throttle pinned as long as conditions allow and the R1 never manages to catch up.
-F4 handling overshadows even the R1
-MV's strong midrange slaughters the R1 during everyday road riding"
"outdrags the Mille Factory"
"R1 can't catch it on the autostrada from any speed"
I don't think it will be any surprise that MV enthusiasts don't really care as much about some of what was said but it is encouraging to see such strong mid range and even better that it is still slated as out handling the R1, much less the Factory. I'll post the article when I get it.
One thing I didn't realize was that the 1000 is coming with MV's Engine Braking System (EBS) as standard, it's mentioned in Cathcart's article but I thought it was a pre-production thing fitted to the prototyple..previously only the Tamburini was slated to receive it. Now the variable inlet tract is going to be standard on Tamburini and a power-up kit for the rest. This will add more low and mid range torque using a servo controlled inlet length."

$22,695 for a 750 is a financial woe. Buy two ZX10r s and share a ride with a broke buddy.

the 750 was developped by Ferrari, maybe the 1000cc which I am guessing is not that diff in design is developped by Ferrari also. The 750 had a genuine 130hp at the wheel.

If the 1000's 157.8 hp at the rear wheel is like the 750's 130 hp at the rear wheel, that means it ain't there.
I was hoping this was accurate, till you posted that. The MV750 was more like a 600 until recently improved but I don't believe (from tests that I read, no other info) that it ever got to putting out a genuine 130. I actually hope though that you can prove me wrong, it's been done before. ???

the latest test of the 750 I have seen is in the june 2004 superbike magazine. They tested it against the new gixxer 750 and the zx6r. On their dyno the mv pulled 128hp at 12500rpm, the gixxer 122 at 12400 and the zx6r 112 at 13000.
I don't know what dyno they are using, but in the same issue they have the 1000cc test also and the numbers for the 1000cc are low campared to other publications. Gixxer1000-142hp, cbr1000rr-148.39hp, zx10r-149.60 and the r1-145.67(they did mention the r1 had under 500 miles for the test and numbers should improve....). Anyway I hope the big MV is pulling those big numbers, I hope it is lighter than the 750 and I hope it will compete with the japanese 1000 because to be honnest and until the desmosedici rr comes out (60000$....hmmm)there is not one italian twin that can compete with the new japanese fours and that makes me sad....sniff

The desmosedici and the MV are 4's, not twins.

that's kinda was my point, the twins are not competitive anymore(except wsbk)....I am sure that's one reason the desmosedici is using a v4 not a v2.
