Rear wheel lockup and engine stall

Hi All,

I've experienced something on my bike several times that I'm wondering if its the norm for the slipper clutch on the 10R. I've been riding for 12+ years and never experienced it and I've owned a few sports bikes.

The other day we were riding through the twisty roads in the mountains out back of my place. I went to overtake a series of cars before a car came around a bend causing me to brake hard and pull in.

In braking hard i locked up the rear wheel causing the rear end to start sliding. I immediately released the rear to find the rear wheel still locked up and the rear sliding out of control. It was then that i noticed that the bike had stalled. I pulled in the clutch which released the rear and kicked the engine into life.

I understand that this is primarly due to me locking the rear and not getting the clutch in but I'll admit I never expected the bike to stall at the speed I was going (about 80km/h). I have had this happen on my 748sps once before but the bike kicked into life once i released the rear brake. I have never had that type of lock up and stall at speed.

I'll have to admit that its freaked me out a bit and now looking at going on another "cornering and braking" course to work through it with the instructors and regain some confidence in the breaking.

Anyone else experienced similar or have any insight?

Cheers

Glenn
