Dyno Tune Prices?

What are you guys paying for a dyno tune? One of the two shops in the Atlanta area quoted $300(!), which seems just a little steep. Maybe it's because they specialize in Ducatis.

$300.00 at our shop. Dynos are not cheap...if they were then everyone would have one in thier shop. It roughly equates to $100.00 per hour when it is all said and done

I tell guys this....you want a cheaper price....then you get what you pay for and that normally results in a quick tune job that is not correct.....and we are not the shop to be asking for that kind of service.

Not every operator knows what to do or how to do it......experience and common sense teaches you that.....now with that being said....the same hold true for working for nothing. Common sense and expereince teaches one NOT to do that either!

The only dyno in our area is at the Harley shop. OK, I can hear you laughing, stop it. $60 will get you a couple of pulls if you feel like it. I don't think they are doing any tuning, at least not on the jap bikes.

A friend took his 999S in. They wanted to know what a Ducati was. ???? They asked him how many cylinders it was, how many cubic inches it had and how much power he expected. 2 cyl, 61 ci and 120+ hp. They told him that he would be lucky to get much over 60 hp. Well, when all was said and done, he got 125.8 rwhp. They figured it must be because of the "ram air". ????

I would NOT WANT a dyno tune that did not take 3 or 4 hours AT least to get it right!

Shouldn't a more expierienced tuner take less time due to his(or her) vast expierence dealing with each make and model and the various modifications done? After all most just get a map due to a full exhaust. Are we talking a from scratch map or taking a dynojet map and tweaking it.
How many pulls would a 3 hour tuning session include.

Its a serious question I am looking to have a map made, but I really don't know anyone in eastern wash I trust with my bike. Only tech every to touch my bike has warranty work and tire changes.

Hey guys there is a guy in Laurinburg NC who does a great job. Its a small shop and he builds bikes. He does the Maxton mile and all that shit. He is listed under dyno tuners authorized centers in NC under www.powercommander.com $225 and it is right. My ZX10R has way better throttle response than stock now fitted with the Ti Force. Up 11 ponies from stock.....

Each bike is different. We build maps from scratch. It is for your bike...we dont load another map in from someone elses bike and just get a close number. I like to try and perfect the tune. We are not trying to be a high volume dyno shop. We schedule sessions and to be honest the dyno was purchased for our race program. But we do tune bikes with it for cutomers.

Some combinations dont require a lot of time....I allow 3 hours for each bike. If the session is finished in 1 hour the shop made good money....if the session last the complete 3 hours or more the shop did okay and the profit loss percentage starts taking a down turn. Anyshop figures $75.00 to $100.00 per hour for dyno time when tuning. This equals out about the same as the dealerships and speed shops charge for an hours worth of labor...which most shops are $65.00 around here. If wear and tear on the machine is not worth $35.00 more per hour then our dyno sits still and we work on a work order that is profitable for the shop. Another thing to look at it 3 hours worth of labor for a man to operate the machine, which cos the shop $35-$55 per hour that man sits on dyno. These ar ethe reason we charge $300.00 We are also a authorized dyno center and power commander dealer....just Dynojet is REAL SLOW about updating the list.

Your Ti Force should have made more than 11 hp from stock. Just bolting the exhaust on gains 9-10hp.
