Freaking Governor
Yes guys the ZX10R has a governor in 6th gear. You can actually go faster in 5th. Just had my 10R dyno tuned today for the new Ti Force and PC3 at a authorized tuning center. Well Guys lets find a way to bypass it!!!!!!!!!

Hey Drowland,
Seems to me it would not be too hard to electronicly fool the computer into thinking it is in 5th while in 6th... Me and my ohm meter will look into this and let ya know. Is there a switch that tells the computer what gear the 10R is in???

Im sure there is a way sort of like the TRe mod I had on my GSXR1000 and muzzy black box on my 12. I sure hope so body comes up with it. Cause after I get some head work down and a 40 shot of NoS going to hit the Maxton Mile and redem myself in the 200mph club!

The online 'fiche lists this:
13151 13151-0005 SWITCH-COMP,NEUTRAL
I don't know what the manual has to say about it, mine's still on order

Warlord, The results were a bit dissappointing when I saw the numbers. Then I asked chuck who is the owner of RC's Performance
Laurinburg NC 28352 ( Dyojet Authorized tuning center ) what the hell? He said his dynojet always show low about 10 hp low. I was up 11 hp from stock and the torque and throttle response is totally changed this bike. The corrected Hp with pipe was I think 157 hp. He said that is actually more than all of the other bikes that has the similar mods on. Pipe and Powercommander. ie. Busa, GSX1000R, ZX12R. And I have personally owned all of these bikes with all the similar mods. And I will tell you The ZX10R with The Ti force and PC3 is the fastest of all of them. Well till hits the fucking governor. LOL I will have it dynoed on a dyno that I am familar with soon. The throttle response is way better than stock now and its a wild ride. Puts the rest of these bikes to shame.

There is a gear position sensor. The values for each gear are in the shop manual.

I would guess it is restricted like the Busa and 12 at 186mph. Two motorcycle mags ran to exactly 186mph on their tests, that's when I began to wonder also that it must be restricted. This is just a quess but with the HP,power/weight,and the sleeker frontal area of the 10 it sure seems like there something going on.

Of course there is a covernor, but the bike can't go much faster also because the gearing (if stock) runs out on 6th.

So is it possible that the 10R reads gearing and provides a map for the gears like the GSXR 1000's do? If so maybe we can get someone to make us a TRE to wake this bad boy up in the midrange. I know stock the GSXR retards timing in the lower gears to keep the bike planted. With the TRE it runs better timing and makes gobs more power.

I know the ECU on our 10s reads the gear selection, but so did my 2000 ZX-12, and they weren't restricted. Now I gotta wonder what's inside the off-road ECU that Kawi offers for the 10.

IT HAS A GEAR POSITION SENSOR. THE RESISTANCE VALUES IT SENDS TO THE ECU ARE LISTED, FOR EACH FUCKING GEAR, IN THE SHOP MANUAL.

Most likely then, then first couple of gears might also have timing retardation.....we have to find out gentlemen and ladies....

No shit!! Just like I said a long time ago when we were mulling over a digital gear position display. Now how about yelling a solution to the problem. Sheesh!!

I may breadboard up a circuit that will light up a digital L.E.D to tell what gear the bike is in... if the bike IS limited in 6th that would be easy to fool just put an in line resistor on to match the resistance that is input into the cpu while in 5th gear...could even be on a swtich.

EACH GE... Sorry. Each gear outputs two resistance values. Whether both are communicated to the computer is a question for the smart guys. Either way, it's a 50¢ experiment to see if a TRE style 5th gear shunt will add top speed or torque in the lower gears. I assumed that was obvious since switched gps shunts are a way of life for gixxer owners.
