Clutch failing to release....whasup wid dat
OK all of you more knowledgable tech/mechanic types, I brought this up before but never got any responses. At approx. 2200 miles I noticed that ocassionally the clutch would not release when it was pulled in while decelerating. It always releases fine if there is no decel load or if there is acceleration loading. It is much more prominent when the bike is cold/cool. It does not happen as often once it gets hot. Occasionally it will not release for what seems like at least a couple of seconds. You can kick it loose by blipping the throttle. It makes downshifting pretty hard, as well, when it doesn't release. What could be causing this? Any ideas? I don't know if it is related, but my bike has always had a fairly pronounced clunk when you put it into gear from a standstill, hot or cold.
I am waiting for someone to dazzle me with your technical expertise.

Your clutch pack is sticking.
Normally a sign it is not getting enough oil or you're using one that is too thick. Other reasons would be warpage or foreign matter on the plates.
Change your oil (preferably a 10-xx or lighter), and if you have an oil can or the like, spray on the clutch pack. Normally it will work its way loose in a few hundred miles.
If not, you will have to pull the clutch pack and inspect then soak it if nothing is wrong.
No big deal.
