ebay scam?
Last saturday I was searching "zx10r" on ebay, and came across an auction with a starting bid of 2000, and a buy it now of 4500 for a zx10r. The auction had several pictures that looked like they were taken from a dealership floor of a blue zx10r as there were other bikes in the background. Well, I contacted the guy pronto, saying "this is too good to be true. What gives". He sent me a nice, prompt reply stating everything was on the up and up, and that he was having personal problems and had to sell the bike quick, before the bank seized it. He, and the bike, are in Greece. For 4500, he would insure, and ship, the bike to my door. Using square deal, I would have time to inspect the bike and get my money back if I wasn't satisfied. We corresponded over several mails, and during this time the auction disappeared - maybe ebay cancelled it, don't know. Anyway, I suggested using escrow.com as a neutral third party to hold the cash. He said he had used it before but they had blocked his money for 2 weeks. He asked for my ebay ID, which I didn't give. I asked him several times where the auction went with no answer, and finally said, its escrow.com or simaler service, or no deal. No response back.
Once again, if its too good to be true, it probably isn't. Beware.

Definitely a scam... I went down the same road once.. my scammer was in Germany. (I caught on and didn't go any further) If you look on cycletrader they are all over there too.. prices too good to be true, yahoo email addresses, free shipping, and wanting you to wire money. You pretty much have no legal recourse. Stay away.

Yeah, he had a yahoo address. Only thing worse would have been hotmail. His claim to fame is that squaredeal offers fraud protection BUT only with a real ebay auction, which this wouldn't have been. He said he had used it many times with happy customers, of course.

Looks like he is at it again. Here is a link for the current scam:

Its nice that he hasn't focused merely on zx10R folks, all the major brands are represented!

Ah.... you can fly coast to coast for about $340 on most airlines.
If the deal were legit, a quick trip to view it in person or contact a member in the area to scope it out for ya.
