WOW

Well, the past two weeks ive only gotten to ride her to work and back, straight up via the interstate, and today I rolled 1000 miles right before our weekly club Sunday Morning Ride, and must say im VERY pleased with the 10R. I rode with a 999, 2 R1's, Honda's new liter bike, and a 12R a few other 750's and 600 bikes, and I am quite pleased at how well the 10R did.

We did a total of 300 miles today, longer than usual they say (we got lost) all backroads, lots of twisties, and lots of looooooong straight aways where I was able to see 160ish (indicated). I must say the bike feels better than my previous GSXR 1k's. The one thing I do know it needs IMMEDIATELY is a Steering Damper. At 120+, the front end seems awfully "twitchy" and a once bringing it down from a nice wheelie got caught by gust of wind and setting it down was a butt puckering experience (We had cross winds most of the day 25-35 mph)

Had a great time, but will definatly be ordering a Steering Damper tomorrow. I cant believe how the front end wants to come off the ground during hard acceleration, from 60-140 (indicated) it feels as if the front end is a inch off the ground, and now that its broken in, its awesome to feel the power. I only once got above 10K RPM today as it had plenty of torque to keep up with and pass the other guys, so im pleased with that as well, not alot of shifting required to lead the pack........just posting my after-ride thoughts, any of you Dallas/Fort Worth guys ought to come out one Sunday Morning if you get the chance........

They were, but coupled with the road conditions, other bike traffic, various cattle and dogs in the area, and 25-35 mph cross wind, I didnt feel safe going any faster........

And yea, im in the Dallas area LOL, that wind was horrible today, especially head east/west as it was out of the south, it was bearable, while riding at an angle sub 100, but once over 100, it became a real pain.........

My first after break in/oil change real ride was yesterday.I didn't realize how windy it was yesterday either until I read your post.My ZX10 is so stable in these conditions, amazing,as long as the front wheel is on the ground, firmly.Unfortunatale yesterday it was almost never firmly on the ground,in my case. And,no wonder I could not get out of the wind stream either.

I rode south of Dallas,150+ miles yesterday,in the Huntsville/west area. It's been windy all week in my area/Houston/coast.

I rode with a piped/mapped ZX12.The 10 felt 5-10hp short on ability to stay with/beat the modified 12.This ZX12[friends] runs well,170-175ish rear wheel.

I could not get enough wind protection. No wonder. The bike is as you described exactly.I even dropped 2 teeth off rear to help keep the front on the ground/improve high speed performance.I am still feeling the need for a damper.I thought that my riding skills would adjust because I felt comfortable on my 12 without a damper.I guess not.

Also,my Tach is 250rpm optimistic.Another one of Kawasaki's fav tricks I believe.Old ZX10,ZX11,etc,same thing.

...apples vs bigger apples...sure, it'd be awesome if the stock 10R and the stock GSXR1000 could outright beat the stock 12R and the stock Busa in all categories, but I don't think they're designed to do that...CC are CCs and as they say: there's no substitute for CCs (or CIs)...even if you factor in lighter weight with less HPs and TQ, the higher HP and especially TQ of the 75lb~100lb heavier bike will almost always push that mass forward with more substantial flavor...all things being equal with the rider, I think the smaller apple 10R and the GSXR1000 will undoubtedly turn and burn quicker than the two bigger apple 12R and Busa when the road gets twisty, but on the high-speed roll-ons or top-end gentle sweepers or straights?....its there, but barely there...maybe up to 10mph~20mph of not being there...but who goes there and where can one do these two intoxicating habits on the streets frequently enough without getting in trouble?...and on the track, its smaller apple all the way

...both types of apples are delicious addicting indeed, but for different reasons...that's why some of us have a big appetite and have to eat both...and try to keep that fruit basket full

Worm,
I think my stock 10 will roll on a stock Busa/12.Unverified because I can't get my old 12 to race track.
Will post any results when it happens.

If the thin head gasket is real then I should be only a thin gasket shy of beating a modified Busa/12.
