VIDEO ZX10 goes 9.3's stock engine/wheelbase

I took this video on Friday at MIR during a private test 'n tune session. The rider is factory Kawasaki rider Norman Jackson of K&N Motorsports on his '04 ZX-10R. Norman ran consistant 9.3s @ 150+ during 90 degree heat at MIR on 5-14-04.

The ZX10R is 100% stock engine, stock wheelbase, only mods are lowered/strapped, geared (-2 front, stock rear), PC3R and Akrapovic pipe. Bike makes 164rwhp on a DJ250 using Ultimate4 fuel.

Here is a link to the video. Enjoy.

At 164 hp with his mods, on a DJ250, that ain't no ringer. Looks like a great set-up and rider to me!

Nopenopenope...I don't believe it...We got riders here that weigh 120 lbs and are not in the 9's yet...It's gotta be the bike right?

It is mind-boggling to me that he can run .7 sec. and 7 more mph than me with the same basic combo.

When I try launching harder, it wheelies higher. I don't get it.

It's all rider. The bike is not a ringer, it's stock engine, stock wheelbase, -2 front sprocket, lowered, PC3R, strapped and Akrapovic pipe. That's it, oh yea factory rider Norman Jackson riding it. 164rwhp, that's it.

Hey mike what part of "different fuel and a little exhaust improvment" don't you understand?

Yer just trying to break into nines and are close ;you would be happier with a 9.90 right? Practice alone might do it
can't figure why ya don't improve your odds if it's important to accomplish your goals.

Can't help if ya don't listen to the obvious.
I'll mind my own buisness;thought I could help;my mistake....

Have a great day;

I'm not familiar with the "Snap N' Slide" technique. Maybe you can clue me in.

It appears to me that he whacks the throttle wide open as soon as the tree drops, then uses the clutch to control power delivery.

salsa, I sincerely doubt the exhaust and fuel is what makes him run 9.3's. I'd bet that he would run 9.5's or better with the stock exhaust and regular gas. More likely is tons of skill plus his bike looks lower than mine in the front, maybe rear. Brock Davidson says that 1" lower = .1 et improvement.

The " Snap N' Slide "...

When the tree comes down you open the throttle " Snap " the clutch to get the wheel to lift an inch or two then " Slide " the clutch while twisting the throttle till it stops...Easily explained, but NOT easily Performed!!!

I just got the " Snap N' Slide " down good but not perfect, still trying to get the sweet spot consistantly!!!

By the way Norm Jackson did 9.30s FOOT SHIFTING...Air Shifters, Dont need no stinking Air Shifters!!!

It is lower in the front. The end of the movie lists mods. Exhaust, strapped and loaded.
