10R wheels

anyone had any ideas yet as to changing them at all? I have a buddy that just got an r1, and just like ours, they have black wheels, and he is getting his powdercoated tomorrow. Our bike do have alot of black on them, not sure if I want to touch the wheels or not, but have any of you contemplated doing anything with them? Id also like to see what Marchesini's look like on them.......

...I think the polished rim/black spokes motif looks good...

Look on Bikepics.com - the last page has a black 10 with polished rim edges, looks nice.

I personally think polishing just the rims makes the wheels look cheap...
love the look of the Marchesini's.... especially this one... (not the monoarm version though)

...I think chrome plated wheels on sportbikes looks cheesy-cheese (but I'm sure there are its ardent fans bling-bling out there)...but the slightly subdued polished aluminum shine is ok...dark-ish mono colors are ok, too., for the most part...bright colored wheels work well on the race track where product presentation and eye-catching exposure is part of the equation and very important to the sponsors...

Damn, that bike is beautiful... and clean! And, I'm generally not one for polished wheels or black bikes. Nice job Johnny P!

Scott,
Thanks man.

They may look cheap, but you wait til you drop the $1800+ to get new round rims to put tyres on and have them do the same thing that your stock wheels do. I say, good move if you are just looking to accent a machine that is predominately black with a touch of silver. But, it is your money and I have mine and it will not be spent to replace good wheels. There was a guy on the Labusas.org site in zx12r.zone looking for a set of 10r wheels though.

Peace,
Johnny

By the man, the engineering degree thing kicking in was just a joke man. At this job waiting for something you have been trained and training to do to kick in will get someone killed and get you fire, phyred, figh-er'd, canned.

Peace

well, for one I'm not planning on buying replacement wheels. I think that would be about the last thing I would ever buy for the bike. I wasn't trying to piss you off, just give my opinion. The only thing I don't like about the polished rims is that only the edge of the rim is polished, instead of the whole wheel. I just prefer the wheels to be all one color.

and about the engineering degree thing... that was a joke aimed at runninhorn... he's from UT, I'm from A&M... guess you'd have to be from Texas to get it. I have no idea what you're talking about with this "waiting for something to kick in" business... care to explain?

No, I don't have time. I'm riding in the morning to the track to see some friends do their thing on the strip and I need to be up early. Did you miss the part where I typed; the engineering degree thing kicking in was just a joke man? Thought so. Not piss at all, still smiling, see above lines...

Peace and be careful out there. Send some photos?
