Who's put what tires on and with what results?
So I'm starting to shag up the back tire a little, as I feel more and more comfortable adding power in turns with this bike, and I can see the tires will last me maybe 1000 miles more.
Whos put what rubber on the bike? I read something about some profiles being too tall for the rear hugger, any experiences with this (which tires)?
How about grip, instability, too-quick turning, headshake, etc. with aftermarket tires?
I'm leaning towards Diablos - anyone have any comments on the 10R's response to them?

Would also love to hear more on this topic . I feel the stock 218's are a flater profile than other high performance tires . My 10R seems lazy in turns . It is like riding a bike with a steering damper , vomit .

i've heard good results with the diablo corsas, 180/55 on the rear. i have a new set in the garrage waiting to go on...

I have diablos on my gixxer. Great tire don't look for a lot of miles, but they stiock great and even when they break loose they are totally predictable.
Diablos if you do a lot of street and not much track, diablo corsa if you do a lot of track and a little street. The regulars are also great in the rain.
Ron Ayers has good prices and so does Southwest Moto. Dealt with both, southwest was quicker for me cause ayers is on the east coast.Free shipping southwest on two or more tires.

Everybody recomended pirelis to me as i would ran a second a lap quickeer only because of tires. I ve been temptet to try them this year but as i get pilot races much much cheaper i didnt buy them. I also didnt expirience any prob. so far with michelins and i trust them. On my track day a guy on gsx1r had pireli supercorsas on them and i was laping few laps behind him. On third lap he was start to slide but controlable and i was bout 2 seconds quicker without any slides. We both had new ones and he had medium on back and i had hard. Now i tdont think i will try them as michelins work gr8 with me and will stick with them.

I put a 190/55 Rennsport on the back. I had to slot the two rear hugger mounting holes and lift the hugger up. It was easy.

I'm thinking of going with the rennsports--had them on my 03 6R and they were awesome... How are they with the 10? As in performance/stability wise? Kinda a pain to have to mess with the hugger...but hey I already modded the key for the Scotts!

I removed the Dunpops and mounted Diablo Corsas (180/55) before ever riding the bike so i have no way to compare or comment about the diff but what i call tell ya about my 350 street miles so far is the bike will roll/flick from side to side with ease. I did install a -1F CS so that may have helped give a bit more space for the 180/55 without rubbing the fender.

I'm sticking with them. I make my share of mistakes and they come through for me. The front feels good. Feedback through the stock brakes is a little vague but the grip on the Rennsport (RS1) is huge, so I still run it in deeeeeep. The rear (RS2) is classic Rennsport nirvana. Mad traction and easily correctable slides. Obscene corner exit grip will just about kill any other (off the shelf) tire out there. None of the wacky Dunlop 208gp ride it sideways stuff which, though fucking hilarious, won't get you to the front of the pack. I kinda miss that, but unless you're the lead dog the scenery never changes. Literbikes need a tire that will let you put power to the ground early. The Rennsports deliver. Rennsports are as stable as anything out there and with the Scotts damper any twitchy thought the 10 might have had is completely repressed. Did I mention I like them?

Cool... I'm thinking of going with a RS2 front and RS3 rear for some road mileage along with the occasional trackday (monthly ) I had that combo on the 6 and I couldn't believe the amount of grip those things had.... The 218's actually hold up pretty good and I'm going to use up as much of it as I can (one last trackday) then I'll get the rennsports.

Bovine, you must be one fast mofo!!! Even at Road America on a ZX-12 I wasn't sliding all over with 208GP's. I used to run nothing but Rennsports until I got a bad one and wrecked at Gingerman. Then I ran nothing but 208s. After listening to Bovine, I think it's time to give Rennsports another chance. Except for that one tire, I always liked them. And I'll bet every manufacturer turns out a bad tire every 10,000 or so.

At my first track day on the ZX10, I ran the first 3 sessions with the stock D218's. During the lunch break I changed to a used set of Pirelli Dragon Supercorsas (180/55 rear). I could immediately feel more grip exiting turns but the suspension felt too soft with the Pirelli's. I cranked the compression dampning 2 clicks f/r and the bike felt much better. Net result: 3 seconds a lap faster on the Pirelli Dragons.

I mostly slide them on the street. They get hotter and work a lot better at the track. Bad tire? That's racing. It does happen, even to the pro's.
