Need Chain Sprocket Input
Just want to put an aftermarket chain and rear sprocket on my 10, just wondering which chains and sprockets you recommended? If I want to go "up" in the back, would it be best to go 2 or 3 teeth? Any info appreciated, thanks......

if you are going with a 520 conversion i recomend the EK X ring chains because of the high tensile strength 8400, and on the sprockets i go with the AFAM on the front because they come with the extra lights holes drilled in them, and the Spocket Specialist on the back because of the wide variety of options they offer for them. i am currently running a 16/41 gear combo.

EKs would always stretch on me on my 1270. Course, that was 190hp. Prolly won't be an issue on a 160hp machine with considerably less torque. I have always had my best results with the DID chain.

Both the high end EK & DID 520 chains are capable of lasting many miles with proper maintenance, however i'm not inclined to convert over to a 520 just yet so i just replaced the OEM cs with -1 AFAM. The sprocket availability for the 10r are somewhat scarace right now as they are DIRECT replacements sprockets from the 98-02 zx6r (rear) & 96-99 zx750r/rr (front).

know any place I can call on Monday to order both the 520 chain and rear sprocket that would have it in stock for the 10R? I called AFAM, but they dont seem to want any business......or didnt want to take my $$$.......oh well, ill find someone that does........

Sorry i don't.....the 520 chain can be had from just about anyplace but the sprockets are another story.

ive heard the 10r is using the same 525 sprockets as the following models.
98-02 zx6r for the rear
96-99 zx7r/rr for the CS

Talk to Carol at Sprocket Specialists.They have Front and rear.I think they have all sizes also.800 782 8200.

my sprocket just arrived, and on the package it says----
"GSX-R 600 97-00/750 98-00"
PITCH 525
Part Number- 28401
Is this the correct sprocket? Just making sure before I try to install it.........

Yes that is the correct AFAM part# for the GSXR's /Sv650 / 96-99 zx-750rr/r and a couple of others so no problem with install.

We have been endurance racing for the last several years, and haven't found a chain better than the DID X-Ring. The DID X-Ring chains have outlasted the best Tsubaki, Regina, and RK chains by a good margin on our bikes. FYI we run only 520's.
The Sprocket Specialists Titan Tough stuff has performed well for us. Don't get the non-hard anodized sprockets. AFAM also makes excellent sprockets. You won't go wrong with either one.
