Micron CF Hi-Mount Pics/Sound Clip

ok, couple of quick pics :

Sound clip : Click Here

Couple of notes/opinions :

Don't worry, the rear pegs are coming off... now for the real info.

Its not very loud, or at least it doesn't seem really loud, so if you're looking for maximum sound, it may be better to wait.

If you have a large foot (size 12 or 13) and like to move your feet around on the pegs, the pipe bend may hinder how far back on the ball of your foot you can get.

There is plenty of space between the can and the lockhard short stalk blinkers in the rear.

I kinda wish it was higher as well (someone mentioned this earlier in another thread)

Rob

Thanks DEES for the Clip and pics, i think im gonna wait now till something louder hits the shelves, talked to D&D today and they said their Slipons are 2 weeks out from hitting the customers, so i may wait on them. How long did your signal install take? Are you pleased with that fender eliminator? Is your plate illuminated? I was considering moving mine up under the rear seat, but still havent decided yet........would like to integrate the turn signals into the rear brake light.........looks killler man!

Hey lets not forget the backpressure valve in the exhaust. That keeps it pretty quiet untill your out hammerin on it.
Does the Micron have that pipe inside the tip thing like the stock can does?

Thanks Deesko, does look sweet! I got these big damned clodhopper size 12 feet, and always have that prob. One reason I got rid of my RC51 was because I kept melting boots on the stock hi mount pipes.

I have the same system on my bike.

Gotta tell you looking at your Orange makes me wish I held out for one.

I had a deposit on an orange one but picked up a blue one at another dealer as it was comming off the truck.

I think the pipe sounds very neat at high RPM's. What do you think? Kinda like a high tech chainsaw or something. Very unique sound to me.

I haven't checked it after riding for any real length of time, but I did notice the finish on the Micron isn't just "raw" Carbon Fiber, its got a glaze/clear coat over it that looks like it might hold in a little heat.

A friend of mine has CF Migs exhaust on his RC51 and they don't have the same exterior coating, and I know his cans stay pretty much touchable unless he's sitting in traffic for a long time (and who wants to do that on an RC51)

mmm that's true, didn't think about that... I'm still only @ about 500 miles, so I've not really been dogging her yet so we'll see how she sounds once I start hitting higher RPM's on a regular basis.

as for the pipe inside the tip, nope, didn't see one.

Just FYI, I just tested this...

After a 20 min ride, engine temps in the 190-200 range, normal riding in light traffic the can was warm, but not hot. I could hold it without it being uncomfortable.

Thanks Deesko. I hated the orange the first time I saw it but it does grow on you. Thanks again for the sound clip.

iridium accents the orange nicely but really, I almost wish they were solid stock orange to match the front lenses.

I didn't see an option for "orange" from Ballistic, but then again, I didn't look around too much either, so they may offer it, not sure. If not, you might be able to find them @ Lockhart's website or somewhere else.

Also, clear is clear... a plain clear lense. The iridium has almost a pearl-coat type coloring to it so its got some hints of color in the lense portion of the turnsignal.... mostly an orangish yellow color. I'll try to find some close-up pics....

ok, lockhart does offer orange lenses... here's a pic so you can see the iridium vs clear or orange...

The lenses right above the orange are the iridium ones, notice the pearl-ish color accent as compared to the standard clear ones above it.
