Drag parts installed, details within, ready for track

I got my radial-caliper-tie-down-bracket and strap from Schnitz racing. It fit perfectly, except one of the strap ends had to be bent to fit right. No big deal except that the metal is made out of WOODPECKER LIPS, KRYPTONITE, or something of the sort, which took a large hammer to, um, manipulate.

I received an adjustable kickstand, 3 position lowering links, and a -1 front sprocket from SpencerCycle today. Props to SpencerCycle, who shipped it 2nd day free of charge since they got it out later than expected.

Anyway, I wondered why the kickstand was so expensive ($170!!!), but found out when I received it. It's a quality piece of work. I do have 2 complaints, though. It doesn't have the pole sticking out of the side like the stocker that makes for easy foot operation. I'll try to find a longer adjustment bolt to work here. Plus, with the lowering links in the 4" position and the front strapped all the way down, the stand just doesn't go low (short) enough. I'm bringing it to a machine shop tomorrow to modify it to go lower (shorter).

The 16 tooth front sprocket was pretty self-explanatory and the axle can be moved back enough to compensate for chain slack. In fact, there's alot more room for adjustment.

Anyone think of trying a 15 tooth?

Now, you can hammer it in 1st gear and the front wheel will stay planted unless you get too aggressive with the clutch. This should make the drag launches much easier and quicker.

I'm going back to the track Wednesday night, hoping for at least a .5 second improvement over bone-stock (10.40).

My Bandit 1200 dropped from 10.80 to 10.20 by lowering alone, but it had gobs more low-end and gear.

Good luck, have you dropped it in the triple tree yet. I would like to see one slammed . . .

My goal is to make it run 9's with the least amount of effort and money possible. Not because I'm cheap (which I am), but more for bragging rights. I have $290 in mod's so far.

It only took me 1 hour to install said modifications from scratch. Now that the adjustable kick-stand and links are installed, it should only take 45 minutes to put it in "race trim".

Raising the fork in the triple tree would be a little more involved. . .

Hi engineermike; I guess I am engineersalsa1

I am following your trail as I am also in pusuit for a 9sec street bike;I tried with my ZX-11 and did not see it happening with stock motor.

Wonder if 16 tooth front will be enough for best launches as our stock ZX-10R has such tall first gear ;rear sprocket is 39 stock and I believe you can get 40 even 41 to complement front 16 tooth.

also swingarm extension is available for $270 (maybe later)
but will require new chain as it is adjustable up to 7 inches; not bad at all I think as far as having options available to keep things interesting.

I am waiting to save a little $$ to get dragracing stuff and try a few things.

Good luck on dragracing; field results should be interesting.

the schnitz kickstand is 149.00 and has plenty of adjustment. i have mine lowered 4 inches in back and 1 inch off of front fender in front, and i still have one more hole of adjustment left. it also has the piece off the side like the stock stand to be able to put it down with your foot.

I'm thinking it would take about 40 minutes to put it back stock. Websites are:

What about rear lowering links???...Bike slammed with -1 front sprocket, 9s shouldnt be a problem for those with some experience and 6000rpm launches!!!

Mayhem,

Our kickstand is and was designed for the ZX10r. It is not a 3 or 4 piece piece design that fits 6 different bikes. Our kickstand is a 2 piece design and is made from all billet aluminum....not a screw together kickstand with metal and aluminum sections.

Thanks engineermike for the props.....I am going to research why you are having to modify your stand. The stand should have really MORE than enough adjustment. I test fitted all the parts on a ZX10 befroe we wen t into production and no problems were found. I was actually concerned about the stand having giving the bike to much lean when used.

Please give me a call befroe you modify that stand!

My idea of perfect and quality is the stuff is right and doesn't need a machine shop or big hammer :-(

If you will look at the KICKSTAND in the picture...you will see that it STILL has around 1 inch of adjustment left. This picture was taken WITH our lowering links installed (4 inch lowered)AND the front end lowered also. You SHOULD NOT HAVE TO modify the kickstand (ozzy) The "foot" on the stand MAY be the incorrect one....since all our stands use the same design it could have been place on the wrong stand body when the stands were assembled for packaging.

I am trying to find a solution to this customers promblem AND FIX IT!

Take Jabs at the product after he says (and he will not) that we would not correct the problem or do anything about it. If there is problem we will correct it for him....Period.

Thats MY idea of a quality place to do business with and a business that puts out quality parts. We actually are the manufacturer of our products...so we correct problems very quick. We dont send you to or give you phone numbers to people we purchase them from when problems arise..we do the leg work.

Oops! I drilled and tapped a 6th hole in the foot to allow it to drop another inch or so.

I would like to stress that the fit and finish of the kickstand is very nice. It is all billet aluminum and has attachments for the spring and sensor. I was most impressed when I saw it.

Ray, can you post the length of the "foot" section so I can compare to see if I did, in fact, receive the wrong one?

Thanks,

Mike

doug i was told that myrtle west cycles does all of your billet stuff since all of your stuff and their stuff seems to be 100% identical. if i am wrong let me know . if you make your own stuff they must be ripping you off. i did get my mirror covers from them a few days before you started selling yours and i cant tell a difference between them.

You are wrong.

They buy from us (one of our dealers)and we also buy some of their mirror plates....BUT 99.5 percent of all the billet stuff we have is ours....not anyone else's. We own the designs and programs. We have MANY dealers and 6 distributors in this country and outside this country that sell our products. We even have a distributor in Australia and Puerto Rico now. The mirror plates were in my hands first. The very first set was used to do the product release ad and were polished by me and was checked for fitments. If it was not for me getting a hold of a stock mirror base...NO ONE would have the plates.

I am aware that John was selling them ...we were and still are too. That is what we are here for. But understand....we are NOT in the habit of doing a product release and doing the marketing for someone else's product ...if we do not have a vested intrest in it. example being a hand in the design.

Everything else we have except the mirror plates come through us and across my desk BEFORE it goes out to anyone. A lot of companys are co-branding our products now( packaging under their name).....and that is fine with us.

No hard feelings...here. Glad you like them and are using them.
