gut check

Its down to the wire now...do I get the black 950 I've been lusting after?...or do I get the black ZX-10R I've been waiting for so long?...I've ridden both...they both make me giggle...ALOT!...one will be fast and more versatile than the other, but the other will definitely satisfy my sportbiking needs...both will get me to where I need to be on-road, but one will 'intentionally' get me off-road, too...I wish I could buy both, but that's possible right now...I could 'tour' on either one, but when I do, one will ultimately be more comfy than the other...and I'll probably be able to ride either bike the same speed through my favorite twisties, that is, faster and with more confidence than on my 12R...BOTH are lighter than my 12R...my KLX400SR and maybe my 12R may not be long in my garage...one or both will have to go to make room for one of these bikes...the 12R has been a wonderful sport-tourer for me and the 950 could defintiely fill that spot if I give it up...I'm thinking go with the 950...hyper-sportbikes are a 'dime a dozen' nowadays, but versatile bikes are few...and maybe I could then buy a good used motard racer and try my hand at motard racing (if there's a class for an over-the-hill senior group) and get my speed kicks that way...probably safer...so.......its gut check time (although I've probably already answered my own question)...2004 is a good time to be a motorcyle enthusiast, yes? ....what say the 10R fans?...help worm....

...the 10R...it taunts me like a little geisha...it makes me lose much needed sleep....I ache for it...and the 950...tall, long legged, Aryan...like the super tall girls of our youth whom we once teased on the playground, but now we lust after...I want it, too...ok...so its stretching the metaphore a bit, but you guys know what I mean...

up in Mission Viejo?...that's where I bought my FZR1000 many moons ago when they were farther south...didn't know that they are a KTM dealership, too...I've ridden both on generous demo-rides...just gotta make up my mind which to get when the time comes...both appeal to me...

i to own a 2002 zx12r and it seems to me (no offence intended)that if you cant go fast through the corners with your 12 a 10 wont help you much.
granted on the 12 you have to work harder through the twisties but theres not much out there you shouldnt be able to stay in front of.
dont get me wrong i love my 10 to death but i also love my 12

Ask yourself what one can you not live without? If you think you'll regreat not buying one then buy it. If you still can't answer you question flip a coin.

Hey Dino,

Attack Kawasaki uses umm...I forget! But there's a thread on it, from a long time ago.

...that's the point of the 10R...you don't have to work as hard to have fun...and I'm willing to bet that after a while you'll wonder why you ride your 12R through the same twisties and work harder when you can always ride your 10R and work smarter...unless you enjoy the challenge...but then, mere motorcycle mortals like me who are honest about our abilities need all the help we can get...and some of you are obviously more talented than others...no, I still think the 10R would be a better tool for me in the twisties and would help my enjoyment of sportbiking through said twisties alot, thank you....

maybe...we'll see how the insurance dance also plays into my decisions...I'm talking about an $800 a year difference between the 950 and the 10R...older rider, licensed and have ridden motorcycles for years, clean record...yet because of the nature of these sportbikes and the old and young squids who crash and put out claims on them, the rest of us claimless riders get hammered with high premiums as if we're just as guilty (NOT!)...if its a not go with the 10R, I may have a black cowl for sale if my dealer already ordered it...
