Routine service performed by ?

I am curious what everyone's opinion is about performing routine service, such as the 600 mile check. I performed my own 600 miles service. But I think I might take it to the dealer for things like checking valve clearances, etc. I am completely capable of checking valve clearances but I do not relish doing the extra work if a valve is out of spec. Can or will Kawasaki object to me performing the service if a warranty situation arises?

I wonder if factory recomends such a valve check ??; or are we supposed to wait and follow recomended valve inspection interval by the book???.

I know opinions will vary and ya do what you want its your bike.;just am bit confused as to why factory does not insist on this early check. I remember doing valve clearance check on my two new ZX-11's within 800 miles as a routine maintenance check.... ?? anyone check with dealer or have reputable source on the whys on this.

My dealer did tell me that I can do valve clearance and service myself if I wanted to with no warranty problems being in question.

Have fun,ride safe.
