Clutch Cable wear (potential problem for all 10R owners)!
Hey,
I just wanted to let everyone know that when I did my euro light swap up front, I noticed that my clutch cable is getting a little wear on it (translation the beginings of a hole in it).
I stopped by a local dealer to see the clutch cable routing to ensure mine was the same & it was (the pic is from the 10R at the dealer).
The main problem is that the cable sits on a metal bracket that secures the signals to the fairing.

Mine has rubbed quite a bit & I am wondering if anyone else has a similar problem.

This next image has a little different wear. When you turn the steering all the way to the left & then the right, the cable snaps a little bit, kinda a small bump. It is the oval in the above pic that is snapping a little.
The brand new 10R on the showroom floor also exhibited this behavior.
I am hoping that someone else (Big Daddy already checked some of this on his) can confirm both the wear issue & the clicking issue.
Thanks all,
Rich

thanks fer pointing that out... doesnt really look like too big a deal.. mine seems fine.. looks like slipping a little bit of PVC pipe or something similar over that braket will solve any contact issues and let the cable roll smoothly..
a nice project fer me tomorrow morning.

Put the cable in a casing of plastic where it touches the bracket. Try using the outer casing of a flexible pen. Use about two inches or so, slit it to wrap around the cable, and electrical tape it in place...presto.

HRm, what about using that ricer stuff? The stuff you wrap around audio cables to keep them all together? I know thats really not to descriptive though.
