Micron Exhaust? - Be Warned!

Just thought I'd let you prospective exhaust changers out there know of my troubles with an oval scorched Titanium
MICRON. I bought the standard mount option back in March
and was surprised to find what I was told was going to be a 'Bolt On' was actually a 'Slip On' with connector pipe.
The connector pipe is a very tight fit on the stub of the exhaust valve and takes a fair amount of twisting back and
forth to seat it correctly. Well after many naughty words
guess what? The can will not fit onto the connector without fouling the footpeg!! (See Photo) MICRON told me this was
due to not using the horizontal spacer in the installation kit. I explained with half a dozen photos that the problem was in the vertical plane not the horizontal!!! The problem is the connector pipe dimensions &/or angles are wrong. So after much to-ing & fro-ing I sent the pipe back and demanded a refund. I'm now looking at a G-Force can which as far as I can tell are the only manufactures suppling a true bolt on. (I really like the original Ti connector and the way it fits). I'll keep you guys posted.

Hmmm.

I have the high mount Micron system.

I actually emailed them after the install to give them feedback on just how perfect everything went together.

Mine was perfect in every way and I am completly happy with the exhaust system.

Mmmmmm, going back a few yrs(mid 80's) i worked part time as a counter/parts person in a local shop and had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Micron under very similar circumstances for a customer of ours and it ended up Micron would not admit the system was manufactured incorrectly nor would they give the shop or our customer a refund ( because in their words it was used ).
End of story, end of Micron.

Chryslers used to be POS's in the 80's

Now look at them.

I do not think that it is wise to never re-evaluate old opinions.

An open mind is a powerful tool.

I am a very picky person. I demand perfection (or really close to it) in everything I do or have.

I recommend Mircon high-mounts to anyone here. I did not try the standard mount so I have no opnion on that.

crispin i didn't get into the finer details surrounding my experience with Micron in the 80's nor will i, but in short yes my mind is very open, hence my ability to research products based on various planes. Needless to say Micron doesn't fit into the picture for me as there are far too many competitors products available within the same market that leave them behind in quality of build, components, customer service etc.

Yay! It's our first exhaust fight!

A sure sign of the bike's popularity.

I remember the good old days, when armies of Muzzy owners would storm the castle being held by Akrapovic fanatics.

Loud, braggart D&D owners would wander into town, raising hell and calling the Yoshimura owners names.

Vance and Hines owners would sit in their rocking chairs, slowing chewing their 'bacca and gazing through reumey eyes at the going-ons...

I too have a Micron hi-mount on my 10R and had no problems with fitment in any regard. I really like the way my slip-on fits the bike and the way it compliments the lines of the bike and she sounds really good, I am told.

Dropped off the map, the pipes were show pipes, had one on my GS1100E, but that was when they were still competitive in drag racing. How knows now???
