Black boxes / ECU's

The mention of 2 diff boxes being used has surfaced a few times now but no one has laid claim or confirmed/documented wheather the 49st & Cal bikes have the same of diff boxes.......perhaps R Muzzy or someone from Orient Express can clear this up, and if so can those that have Cal models replace theirs with the 49st box??

why is it that the poor people in Cali ALWAYS seem to get ripped off on motor vehicles and guns? I assume that the Cali ECU "detunes" the 10?

At the bike show in Daytona there was a tag on the bike listing an optional ecu and I believe an Akro pipe along with something else that Kaw would have avalible. Like they do for the zx6.

Anyone else see those ?

There is a race ECU...Attack has made mention of it. But that's close to being a 1 off unit. Based on my experience (helping out Mike Velasco) with an RC51 and race ECUs/harnesses...Don't bother.

There is no need to panic at this point if you have a CA bike. Different ECU does not necessarily mean less power. The GSXR1000 has a 49 state ECU and the CA does not any less HP than its 49 state cousin. Same for the last R1 (not sure about the new one).

No doubt the maps or andvance in emission test ranges are different, but these have little to do with HP.

We've seen a few dyno runs and they dont seem to produce drastically different number no matter where they live, so why all the concern?

I hope this is not a sportrider dyno envy thing.

Dunno bout bein ripped off here - mine ran 149.4 Friday night in Vegas (2200 feet ele), the power curve was very linear and the A/F was also very much in range of what we all tune for.

I have heard of a "hot" ECU but like mentioned here already - nuthin "official".

Was actually wondering in the pre-prod/magazine bikes were runnin "hot" ECU's.
