Timing Restriction Eliminator (TRE)???
You know, in surfing the threads re: pulling wheelies and the soft power hit down low, etc., it dawns on me that our motors definitely feel restricted at times. There are other times when the motor feels like a wild banshee that is just spinning the rear to hell.
Has anyone made the proper analysis to determine whether there is some timing retard device electronically limiting our fun in the lower gears? Suzuki has employed them for years and the two companies are now somewhat related.
Also, Suzuki employs a top speed limiter as well. Are any of these electronic shenanigans in effect on our 10's. Given the liability concerns always surrounding bikes like these, it would be hard to believe that Kawasaki did not include such a device.

TRE, the 'R' is for Retard, not sure that the 10R needs one or not yet. The power valve may be suspect, as it softens the mid-range hit experienced on some bikes that employ them. Also, there are two valves on the throttle body per intake, this may also have something to do with how fast the motor accelerates too. I've seen the R1 with a full Akrapovic that just screams when the power valve was removed and tuned properly. I would look there first or drop a tooth up front if you really need to get the front up in the air. All bikes after 2000 are electronically speed limited. Is 186 mph not fast enough for some of the people out here?
Just a thought.
Peace,
Johnny

On this past Saturday I was with Ivan the maker of the TRE. He is still working it out at this time. As for a speed limiter in 5th and 6th he did not find one.
