Exhaust Sound Bytes
I know the exhaust subject is being beaten to death but want to put a new spin on it. Want to know if any one has some sound bytes of the 10 with slip-on or full system.
Now here's the thing, while I am very concerned about good gains thru the power band I don't want to pick up an exhaust that sounds tinny or hollow. I really like the way the stock pipe sounds and don't want to go backwards so to speak in sound with an aftermarket system.
Can anybody help out with this. I do realize that sound bytes won't give an accurate sound but should be close and give me an idea of what to expect.

...I don't quite get the sound bites coming through little itty bitty desk-top computer speakers...and even if you have a bucks-up 5-speaker surround sound, the exhaust note is still 'flat sounding' and 'narrow' coming through these tiny speakers...am I missing something here?

Sound has nothing to do with making horsepower. That being said, Roger will be coming back on Monday to do a "sound byte" with us.

unfortunately, sound bytes don't usually convey much information. Just hearing a bike idling, revving, and taking off doesn't tell you how loud it is (you can always adjust the volume on your speakers), or how it will actually sound in person. IMO, the best sound clip would be one recorded by an on-board device (shielded from the wind of course), while a rider takes the bike through a couple of twisties.

Screw the sound bites. If you buy a quality exhaust and you are not going to have to worry about it sounding tinny or hollow. Besides with a sound byte the recording and the playback speakers are going to color the sound.

And I disagree.
I ain't buying until I hear it, on the same model I'm putting it on. The other criteria is the shape of the power curve and the consistency of the power increase over stock.
