Riding style I have never riden any sportbikes. I currenly ride a Vmax and the last two bikes that I have had, V65 Magna and XS11 ,have about the same riding position. Will it be hard to ride the 10r with its laying down riding position? Also the windscreen seems to be a little small when compared to some of the other sportbikes that I have looked at. I guess it would not be too bad unless to want to go about 140 or above. Any opinions?

Why the switch, friends, mid-life crisis, need for speed? I figure as long as you keep the VMax you will have a real nice combo package (.02 cents)

Tho my wife does not ride, I hear the rear on the 10R is a bitch for the passanger. This may help your plea for two bikes maybe.
The 10R has speed. It's light, and the seating position does put more weight on your wrists - your forearms will drop nearly straight down from your shoulders, with very little elbow bend. The 10R is very roomy for a sportbike, though.
But why buy this bike for straight-line acceleration? If you don't live near twisty roads, and you're not going to the track, you might be better off with a Hayabusa or a 12R; and the wife will like the back of the 'Busa much better.

Man you have had the best of the original powers cruisers that Japan has had to offer, great choices in machinery. Be careful on the 10R though, she can be a nasty girl if she is beat on like you can on the heavier machines.
It reminds me so much of an R1 is not even funny, with the 10R being just a little higher in the rear and the suspension is a lot better on the 10R. Makes me think of how America used to reverse engineer weapons to get the best of our and borrowed (see; stolen) technologies.

I have also looked at both of those bikes and wouldn't mind getting one, however I like the zx10 because of its lite weight(one of the reasons), the other bikes the Magna, XS11 and the Vmax are all very heavy(Vmax weights @620 lbs w/full tank of gas) The Hayabusa is about 100 lbs lighter then the Vmax so that and the 12r are options for me. Down here in South Florida the Hayabusa IS the KING of the straight line. It just seems everyone has a Haya and since the wife does not ride with me, I just wanted something a little different.

Yeah they all were nice bikes(A few years ago) Need something more up to date while still keeping the KING of the POWERCRUIZERS
ZX10R or Hayabusa a tuff choice.
No actually it's quite easy.....12R . As for the riding, I think you'll find the 10 much better handling which can quickly get you into trouble if your not used to it. take your time and enjoy.

if u'r a tall guy, sounds like the 12 would be the ticket for u. good ergos and much more wind protection for high speed runs. u shoudl be able to get a primo used bike for next to nothing too, hence bypassing complaints about having 2 toys nuttin wrong with the 10r either mind u.

swft, A lighter bike that handles good, has good(Alot) power, mainly one up riding. I would like to have something a little different from the power cruizers that I have had in the past. Something with technolgy that is not out of date. I am looking real hard at the 10 if I can find a good deal
Not trying to confuse anybody just trying to get as much info as I can on the bikes.

Well I too am 5'7" and though I'm a bit short on the bike with a 30" inseam, I love it. As for technology being out of date...no way.
