Let's end the dyno confusion

Hey guys...I've noticed alot of people confused about the difference in dyno figures the mags come out with and the figures other guys are getting out in the real world...

Most of the bikes dynoed by the mags are at or near sea level which will make the bikes have higher dyno numbers..If a guy dyno's his bike in Denver he's going to get a lower figure...Also SAE hp will read lower so all readings should be converted to SAE readings before an accurate assesment can be made...

Don't be dissapointed by the numbers...If the magazine says the ZX10R has 164 HP and they are at sea level you're going to get a different reading if your is done near Mile High Stadium...Too many variables that can have an effect on HP readings such as Altitude, the dyno used, humidity, and temperature...

The only way to get an accurate measurment is to dyno bikes on the same day and same dyno..

I know this has been said before but I wanted to give this issue a thread of its own..Too many "why does my bike dyno only 150...The guy in SoCal's R1 dynoed bigger numbers than my ZX10R in Minnisota....The CBR makes as much power as the ZX10R..)

Don't worry....Until you Bring your ZX10 down to SoCal and dyno the Yamaha and ZX10R on the same dyno you won't have an accurate comparison...

Very true. Only valid comparo is same day, same dyno. We should scare everyone and put a dyno at Bonneville. 'What?? My bike only made 112 horsepower??'

How about sea level, same day, same dyno, ZX-10R, CBR1000RR, stock for stock 1hp difference.

Good enough ?

Pssst. Hey guys. How about if I just Photoshop some really stellar dyno graphs that will shut everyone up. Something like the ZX-10 making 12 more hp on supposedly the same dyno, same day. That would put a mercy bullet into the head of this dyno war crap.

That's ok, because I don't give any weight to magazine hype, manufacturer claims/charts or dyno "graphs" that are easily manipulated on the computer to read whatever you want. I also don't give any weight "numbers" spit out by a machine meant for tuning, not comparing to other bikes.

I don't have the graphs because they weren't my bikes. The 10R dyno'd belongs to a guy on this board, the 1000RR doesn't. I was there to see them both run, and I even had my 12R run right after the 1000 just to have some same-day, same machine comparison.

...but if it makes you feel better, the CBR laid down 1hp less than the 10R.

the one thing not said we have said for years, you gotta be able to ride it. there a lot of guys wit BIG power and LITTLE ability. The dyno is nice but most races are won by the riders. A guy shows me a dyno chart, I show him the tail light of the 12

I'd give more weight to a dynograph that a mag puts out over a word of mouth dyno on the internet that's for sure...

So far, aside from a Euro mag or two I've seen far more same day same dyno's have the ZX10R come out ahead...

Bahaahah....Whitesand, dont you know that everything on the internet is true??

"Word of mouth"... sounds like Yamaha's marketing program. Remember 180hp??

Sterbator already said the Zx10 and RR dyno'd the same day, same machine, same operator along with his Zx12.
What reason would he have to fabricate a rumor? He's not associated with any OEMs. He doesnt have any products to sell.

The numbers are coming out to be 150-152 hp on a real world dyno. 160 is a pipe dream. Mazda just got busted (again) for overstating engine output and they had to buy back plenty of RX- 8's because of it.

Just telling you what I was there to SEE.

I don't have, nor will I be buying a 10R, 1000RR, R1 or GSXR1000, so I don't have any reason to inflate or deflate "numbers" to make one of them look better than the other.
