Break-in is FINISHED!!!

So I go down to the Kawi dealer to get my other four quarts of oil and filter (see the Parts Counter Encounter thread), and on my way there I cross ** 1000 ** miles!

I get to the dealer, and the first words out of the floor manager's mouth are: "Got any tickets yet"?

As I'm leaving, he's talking to some guy looking at one (of the seven or so) 10Rs on the floor now. Why didn't I wait three weeks?

He asks me how many miles on it - and I tell him 1009, and that I was about to go have some fun.

We have a highway - the Red Mountain Freeway - that has some curves on it in the Mesa section.

I will say the front end got light on the onramp. The bike is rock steady at triple-digit speeds - felonious triple-digit speeds.

I passed a car very quickly indeed, and started to think about slowing down, was well north of 9,000 RPM listening to the music in fifth, thinking I wasn't wearing full leathers and it was time to slow down. I roll off the throttle, and (at the risk of incriminating myself) saw the speedo at 119mph; I had to have had it over 125 for a few seconds.

Wow, what a nice bike. No complaining from the engine or chassis, just a smooth rush of power. Sweet control, light and stable. I didn't see the need for a steering damper; but then I'm not hammering it really hard leaving chicanes just yet, either.

I believe I will be accelerating the rate of rear-tire wear now.

Waited long enough, it seems to be worth it...

Only 125 mph ? I figured that the new ZX10 would be going alot faster than that being north of 9,000 in 5th ?

Or are you just giving us a less incriminating figure

I did the math - 9k is 132.5 in fifth. In sixth it would be 140 !

It's raining in Mesa, right now, or I'd go check it, but my spreadsheet agrees with my observations: 4000 in sixth is 62.34 mph, 5000 is 78 mph, 6000 in sixth is 93.5.

I'll post the spreadsheet up in another thread for those who are curious.
