Tank Protector
I just wanted to know what everyone was going to do to protect their tanks. I was surfing the net and saw this:
http://www.thetankslapper.com/
Anyone try this product before? And if so, would you recommend the 3M stuff or the tankslapper protector stuff.

I've seen this product before, but have never tried it personally. I have been using the Progrip Blister type tank pad, I have had the same one on my 12R (Carbon Black) for three seasons now and she looks new still, just paut one on the 10R (Clear) the first day I rode it. They stand up to a lot, when I ride to work. I rarely leave the building until it is time to go home, so the bike sits in the sun light all day and has been rained on too and no porblems with adhesion.

I just e-mailed my bud with the 954. He has one although I'm not sure if same brand. Anyway, while out for a ride we were talking and he noticed under his is a few hundred tiny spots of rust. Looks like the darn thing ruined his paint. Will know more in a few days,

I personally use the ProGrip Carbon Fiber Resigned Tank Guard....Daveindaytona got me hooked on it, even got Dino to switch over. Excellent fit and finish, superb looking as well!

I'm using a LP type, like the progrip blister but longer. Seems OK for now, will replace it in a month and inspect the underside.

Tankslapper is what I use and it is tough, nearly invisible, and uses NO glue.

Hey guys, I'm new here. I've got a tankslapper on my 600 and my Z1000. My Z1000 is black and the tankslapper doesn't look very good on it. It's impossible to get all of the tiny bubbles out. I would imagine that black ZX-10R owners may not be happy with it.
On a blue, green or orange ZX-10R it should work fine. You won't be able to see the tiny bubbles.

I've seen the tankslappers and they look pretty good.
I never considered trapped moisture under them though - looks like a half bra will be in order then.
Lockhart says 3 weeks til they have basically anything for the bike.

Mag Knight shows they are coming out with one of the magnetic bras for the 10. I've used their small tank pads, and I like the ease of removal and reinstallation when washing the bike. I'm using one of the carbon pads right now on my black 10, and it looks pretty good.

I have the Tank Slapped on a Black ZX9R and its great no bubbles just need to take your time in the install. Been in 3 track crashes and has held up very well. 2 thumbs up from me and I will be ordering for my ZX10 as well.

I prefer the Tankslapper over any other product that either attaches with adhesive, or straps to the tank and lets dirt under it and rubs away at the very paint I am trying to protect.
I haven't used the Tankslapper on black yet, but I can not see any tiny bubbles under the film on green looking real close with a bright light.
Guess I will go apply a piece of it to my pickup (black)and let it dry for a couple of days and see how it looks.
Dino couldn't tell I have tankslapper on my bike until I pointed it out to him, and as you all know, he is very discriminating about add on stuff.
I also bought a couple of feet of bulk material and made pieces that fit each side of the tail section to keep the saddle bags from abraiding the paint.
2 thumbs up is my rating . Nothing is perfect but Tankslapper comes very close.

Currently using a Pro Grip tank protector and pleased so far. Might try a Mag-Knight once they come out just for ease of removal.
