15 Minute Demo Ride, HF Vibration?
I posted this on the Motorush site but you guys and girls might have some comments! Note I have a SP1 so am used to a V2
Just took the 10 for a 15 minute test ride and am impressed!! I only got to 7000 revs and that was fast enough (around town anyway!). Would need to take it for a country blast, or better still the track to get a real idea but it looks like here is a bike that is docile enough to commute on but can wipe most bikes off the track! Awesome
The power was V2 tractable (above 3g's) and turbine smooooothe.
You can definitely notice the weight and it flips from side to side with ease. Great induction noise as well, you know the type when you have babies sucked out their prams onto the tank and the exhaust sounded good for a standard system. Seat was really comfy and the riding position seemed more comfortable than the SP (though I do have over racing rear sets).
The clutch was quite stiff and the take up was abrupt as well but you would get used to this, the gear shifts were slick for a new bike but it had its first service and was running synthetic.
Brakes did not seem as good as the SP, though my brakes are quite abrupt, but maybe a better compound and braided lines (hello Dan!) would fix that. Would need a double bubble screen as well.
I like the look of it as well it is not plastered with stickers and looks, well mean and dignified if that is possible.

I've probably got as many hours as most on a SP1. The 10 is really hard to compare to it. Really a completely different animal in all respects. From a pure performance standpoint and more "apples to apples", you need to compare it to the 1000RR.

Cut and pasted the post but missed out the bit about the high frequency vibration that i felt.
Anyway when riding i felt a high frequencty vibration through the bars and tank, is this normal?? This was linked to engine rpm but did not get any worse after 6g's
The bike did have 2/3 life pilot sport race compund tyres on (no silica so hope that it does not rain) so these could have been the culprit!
I have ridden an 03 R1 and did not notice this vibration so assume it is not an IL4 thing?

Another ride!
Took another 10 for a quick ride. This bike has 600 k's and the original tyres (218's) The vibration is still there but does not seem to be as noticeable as the first one I rode. By the looks of it the first one (1400 km) had already had a hard life so I'll put it down to that and the tyres.
Seat defiantly a lot more comfortable than the SP (not that I have ever had an issue with it) and it tips in and corners so well. Having said that it is a completely different animal to the SP and feels so refined.
I think I am gone..............

Mine has a vibration in the 4000 rpm range that was annoying during the first 500 miles. But it is smooth below 3500 rpm and above 5000 rpm. There is also a fluttering sound and a tinny rattle which I think is the valve inside the exhaust system.

Thanks for the post. Kinda agree will all you stated, but the brakes on mine are the best stock set up I have ridden. Induction and exhaust are "awsome" to hear from the seat. The clutch is a little manly but not enough to be considered a pain. And tho I have not been in the upper ranges yet, the lower vibes are very tolorable to me. Let us know how the track turns out . . . . . later - Mike
I stand corrected, the best stock brakes I have ever ridden were on a Triumph T595 a few years back - braided from the factory.
