Can someone list what takes place at this 600mile service?

Very specifically? Or can someone find and post the Kawasaki dealer memo that lists the specifics of this service (even better)....

enquiring minds want to know.

The mechanic takes your bike out for a test ride and runs it to redline in the first 3 gears.

Doesnt it say in your owners manual??
I thought it did....but I could be wrong......will check tomorrow.

It also depends on your dealer.

Yah, the good ones charge you for a valve adjustment without even taking the cover off!

I was just told that its an Oil change, bolt check, and chain lube. Sraight from the mechanics mouth.

AKA.........Do it yourself!

He did say that a Pro needed to be able to decide how much metal flake was ok in the oil on the 1st change LOL.

The 1000 km (600 mile) check is detailed in the owner's manual. Oil and filter change and check all cables, linkages, hoses, nuts, bolts, etc. No check of valve clearances. I think the first valve clearance check is at 15,000 miles.

I thought the manual had a misprint where it said the oil filter is supposed to be tightened to 30 ft/lbs of torque..... Until I broke a strap wrench trying to take the original filter off. Then I had a hard time getting the new filter tight enough. Hmmm. How much oil pressure does this bike have.

I am at 750 miles and I have to get to 1000 before next weekend. I have a track day April 5th at Texas World Speedway. 500 miles at 4000 rpm really sucked. 6000 rpm makes all the difference in the world. Now the bike is starting to be FUN.

Pay extra for a bike that is already broken in? No way. Then I would just have to find something else to bitch about.
